Best neck turning tool?

The cuts not being uniform was an issue I experienced when I first started turning necks. And the reason I was seeing that was that I was turning the necks before the brass was fully fire formed. In addition to having the cases fully fire formed, annealing them after firing and before turning helped get the sizing consistent to where I get very consistent light cuts into the shoulders.
I was having that trouble on 30BR. I can't chamber them before I turn them. I am pretty sure it was the slop in. The shaft causing me to gouge the shoulder. Neck thicknesses were pretty consistent.

I bought the 21st Century about 8 yrs ago, just to use by hand. Didn't take long, before getting the lathe base setup for it, then added 3 way cutter setups on it over time. I run it with a variable speed drill, fast and smooth cutting.Adjustments are simple and swapping out calibers is easy.

Benchrite Case Lathe for Neck Turning

And while your at PMA look into one of these. I have had one for years and it is one of my favorite pieces of equipment. Turn, camphor, deburr and replete,,,,,

I do not recommend the Forster trimmer for neck turning. The insert they use for cutting is round and leaves a pretty poor surface finish. I’ll be buying a PMA setup.
