Best Neck Turner 2013?

I can see I will need to get into neck turning but am a bit overwhelmed by the many choices. PMA Tool, Sinclair (NT-1500 and NT-4000), the K&M, 21st Century Shooting neck turner and their full blow lathe. Prices range from about $100 to $245. There are no doubt other choices that may encompass an ever wider price range. Pros and cons of various models out there?

Phil,

I have the Century 21 and I really like it...

The PMA also interests me,but I`ve not had the opportunity to try one yet.

21st Century.

Another vote for the 21st century. Easy to adjust, has all the cutters with applicable shoulder angles you'll ever need available and reasonably priced.. I sold my pumpkin turner to get the neck turning lathe set up in the caliber I wanted. Love its simplicity..

I've got both the K&M and the PMA non-micrometer version. The PMA is GREAT. Order it with the neck thickness you want and it comes with the cutter set to that measurement and all you have to do is adjust the mandrel to the proper depth. It costs about $50 and is worth every penny!

For those of you favoring the 21st Century, are you referring to the hand held cutter or the full-blown lathe setup? Also, the carbide version of the K&M has cutters on the end of the mandrel that appear to cut away any doughnut. Useful?

PMA all the way, never look back, I have almost every kind you can imagine, I like the nt 4000 and the 21st century but none of them are as fast to set up as the PMA and it is very precise, and as mentioned if it is for a dedicated cartridge order the B model and it's a lot cheaper with the same quality cut.

Bozo is right PMA is in my opinion is the easiest to us set is a no brainier. I like mine can't think of using any other. Plus you can call PMA and they will help you
set up and turn brass . Ps I like the adjustment

+1 on the Pumpkin. I have had K&M and PMA . Liked the PMA better than the K&M but would take the Pumpkin over any of them.

Phil,

I use the hand held cutter with one of these.....http://www.benchrite.com/cscart/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=29789

It makes turning necks fun... 8)

I used a NT-4000 and a K & M prior to purchasing a Pumpkin. I have found the Pumpkin although a little harder to set to give me the most precise case neck wall thickness.

Regarding the PMA tool, I see how it is different in that the adjustment mechanism moves the mandrel vs the cutter. I have to ask, "so what"? Is there some inherent advantage over moving one part vs the other?

Kelbly's and Bruno's Shooters Supplies both sell the Pumpkin and it's accessories.
Or Don sells them direct, I used to have his contact info but for some reason can't find it this morning.

Phil,
Most of the turners move the mandrel instead of the cutter, The difference is the PMA is not on a centric like most of the others, the PMA is extremely user friendly and very fast to set up, I also agree the Pumpkin does a great job, I had one, it is in the mail to a member right now, takes too long to set up, I am not very patient.
