Picked up a wildcat barrel, dies, and bullets for cheap. It is a 6.8x39 or 277 Wolverine.
Did a search on the multiple bullets & loads development and couldn't find an answer.
Primary purpose of gun is night hunting hogs at close range under 150 yards and day hunting out to bullet expansion range 250-400 yards.
The platform is an AR15 so 2.250 mag length will be seating depth (thought I will actually check lands/free boar length to throat)
I am going to be loading 3 bullet weights and 2 different powders.
It has been my practice (successfully so) using a .05gr variation in powder weight.
My conundrum is that one of the powders is hard to get a hold of and I don't want to be wasting a bunch of powder to find the best bullet & load for this gun.
I am very forgiving when it comes to hunting gun. I don't need a .25 MOA accuracy. Most of my real hunting scenarios will be under 150 yards day and night.
So my question is what is an efficient way to not waste powder when developing a new load.
Thanks in advance.
