They used to make 95 gr X gnd 85 gr XBT. Even that 80 would be my bet in the 240WM.
Got a 9 twist that I wish I could shoot those Berger VLDs from. Just won't shoot them. Tried just about everything.well I have wacked quite of few with a Berger 105 HVLD at 3,150 FPS and I swear by it. Berger's twist calculator show that 105 is just marginally stable right at 1.0 ready to be unstable in a 1-10. So they may shoot well and work 100-200 yards but as the Speed falls off not good. I may shoot a few just to see how they really work but I am leaning tward just using that sierra 100gr BT or the 90 gr Swift SII. Nosler 90gr AB are limited production and very hard to find and re-find. We have used some High Velocity bullets in years past and what I believe happens is the bullet just goes right threw and blows up on exit. They all run 30 to 50 yards never had a problem finding them, some had 3 to 4" exit holes. We have also used some small caliber varmint bullet and had some spectacular DRT kills. What I think happen there is the bullet's blew up right in the vital zone. As deer with a well placed shot into the boiler room are not hard to kill. So wanting a bullet that just wont slip threw at close range or blow up before penetrating a few inches and at the same time work good at 500-600 yards..hum sound like I want a 105HVLD...lol....But not going to work in that 1-10. I don't think. Just want to play with it. Not my main gun. I may try a few 90gr Swifts. The hear say is good on them. I have heard a lot of good about the Barnes X's but I have watched too many runners on YouTube videos for me to feel good about them.
But Thanks for the info.
