best collet bullet puller

i have quite a few cases i need to re-use after doing a bunch of load testing and all i have is an inertia hammer. they are all loaded, btw.

what is best alternative for multiple calibers? is there a consensus on this?

thanks for any advice.

I have the Hornady unit. Works pretty good

Same here. Not saying it is better than anyone else. I have yet to see a mark on a bullet. And the only thing that was slightly challenging to pull was a 204 Ruger loaded for AR15 magazine length. Hardly any straight shank showing.

I only shoot .223 and found the RCBS to be fine.

Guys: In office now so can't check, but doesn't the RCBS need a caliber specific collet?
I seem to remember that there is the puller and the collet is sold separately.

It does need caliber specific collet

Only used a Hornady...works fine in my hands. They all will need caliber specific collets regardless of brand. Anybody use both and have a comparison?

RCBS also. After years with an inertia bullet puller I can not believe I waited this long. Never had a mishap (not really sure how this could happen) with the inertia one. I had a lot of 308's to pull that were given to me. All I wanted was the brass. Bought the RCBS with the collet and could not be happier. Not that I care about speed but the collet is faster also.
Bought a few more collets along the way also.

I researched the subject and settled on the Forster collet puller. The collets are designed so that the downward force actually conches the petals tighter to the bullet.

I've had both the RCBS and the Hornady cam puller. Both do the job but the cam-handled puller is way easier to operate. Rarely damaged any bullets with either.
Thanks...I don't need to chase a better mousetrap;). I'll stick with what I have.

Hornady +1
224, 243, 7mm and 308.
Looked at a few and can't remember just why I bought Hornady, probably because it's easy to use.

I use the RCBS collet puller. It may deform the bullets a little but it's a gentle pull to remove the bullet. No primer going off.

I have one the bullets will stick in the collet. Take a case like 308 or 223 cut it just below the shoulder then just run it back up with a little tap the bullet will fall right in the case.

I have 3 bullet pullers. Forster collet, this is the one I started with and then a RCBS collet and RCBS Quinetcs inertia which came along with stuff I bought. Of the two collet pullers I like the Forster a little better. Tw25 grease on the outside of the collet & inside the body & flange of the screw sure make them work much easier. I like the inertia if I need to just give the bullets a couple love taps to pull the bullets out just a couple thousands when setting up dies or for left over rounds from the PD trips. Just move them and re-seat. I normally try not to get to many to pull but the last three firearms I purchased came with 4 to 600 loaded rounds (BR brass never fired). I don't care who loaded them I don't shoot them.
