Best case trimmer

not me, in fact I am lurking on Ebay looking for a 4th Wilson at the right price in anticipation of building a 6BR later this year. Thirty seconds to trim and chamfer a case is not really a burdensome thing for me. Now before I got the 15 dollar power adapter the hand crank was killing my wrists and I contemplated the Giraud and WFT trimmers

Looking at the Giraud page I do not see an model for 6CM or 6BR even if I wanted to change over. Do they make models other than the ones on this page ?

They r pretty darn good and will make anything u need, just send a case over to them. I had a wilson, nice unit, cannot take anything away from them.

I am sure they would but my setup seems to work fine as is. When I had a single Wilson and was shooting more than 1 cartridge hand cranking trimming was a pain in the butt. It was also not very consistent with the need to readjust every time I changed rifles. Having one for each cartridge and a power adapter made it a piece of cake and now I trim every firing. Three used trimmers, case holders, and power adapter has cost me less than $150

For example Giraud doesn't make a tri-way for 30br. The trimit 2 doesnt list one either.

Send him a case. He made me a Dasher and a 7SAUM.

This subject by as been beat to death on this and other forums. My vote is for the Forster with their 3 way trimmers. It's fast and affordable. I also have the unit for the drill press. I doubt there's a better trimmer than the Forster and Wilson for the money.

RCBS has been around for a loooong time. Got a hand crank RCBS trimmer for doing a small batch AND a RCBS power trimmer for doing a LARGE batch.
If you use the "proper" dies, you won't need to or almost never need to trim.

And a BIG price tag doesn't make it better. Just more expen$ive.
Spend less on equipment (that you won't be using all the time) and more on powder and bullets.

Is this normal or were you lucky? I emailed them about a Tri Way for 6BR and 284, my reply was they were specialised cases and I’d have to buy the powered version..

If I remember correctly(?) on the Wilson, you need a case holder for new cases and a different one for fired cases.

Just checked my old Sinclair catalog and there are some cases that need shell holders for new/fired cases.

I just always bought the fired case holders. Never had a problem. No need to buy both, as long as it holds the case well.

I spoke to him and he said he had requests for those but didn't a case to make an insert. I sent him one of each and he shipped me the inserts.

My lovely wife just ordered me 250 Starline cases for my Sharps (I am being drawn to the Dark Side) .45-2.6" (aka .45-100) for Valentine's Day. Giraud probably doesn't make an insert for them. I am thinking the Forster set up for my old Sears drill press.

The Tri-Way is not the best "chuck-up" trimmer. The Trim It 2 beats it hands down. I owned them both and sold the Tri-Way.

Does the Trim it 2 make a bushing for 6ppc? I don’t see one listed.

Dang I really wanted a 45-100 at one time. Never happened but, never forgot it.

I’ve used Forster, RCBS, Lyman and Lee. The Forster was the best of that bunch, but IMO none of them compare to a Wilson if a guy is looking for every case to measure the same as the last. With the power adapter and the micrometer adjustment on the Wilson, I’m done searching for something better.

Whatever you get, please make sure it has a chuck stop to make sure you are not putting more pressure on the crank that will give you measurable differences in the results.

It seems that the general consensus is to go with the Wilson micrometer trimmer. Thank you to all who have replied.
