Best carry sling for heavy hunting rifle

I'm looking for a good carry strap/sling for carrying a roughly 13 lb bolt rifle at night for coyote hunting. We walk pretty far sometimes and cross creeks, fences, etc. So I'm looking for something that holds it comfortably, secure, and hands free. I'm looking at 3 options from Tab gear, their simple biathlon, prs, and amphibian slings. Also looking at the blue force gear vickers sling. The biathlon looks the most secure and comfortable just worried it would be more difficult to put on and take off in the complete dark. I will not be using the sling for shooting support. Would like it to have quick adjust so I can throw it over my head and shoulder easily with a thick coat on amd then pull it tight with a quick adjust to make it more secure. Then pull the quick adjust to loosen it to make it easy to get off. What carry strap or sling would you guys suggest for this?

It's not my ideal choice for this but I used a 223 AR last year and passed up a few coyotes that hung up out past 250. Also hit a few that ended up running farther than I wish they did. If they run a ways at night it can take a while to find them even with a thermal. So I wanted to run a fast 6mm this year and see if I prefer it over the 223. Even the 223 i ran last year wasn't light with the 2lb thermal scope and 1lb suppressor on the end. If I end up liking running the 6 creedmoor this year then I will likely get a lighter barrel for it. I also wanted a better sling for the AR that I ran last year. Something that would hold it more secure and keep it from moving around but still easy to get on and off in the complete dark with a big coat and hood or stocking cap.

I’ve got to ask. Why are you using a 13 lb rifle for this?
I wish my night gun was lighter too, as it's 12 pounds on the dot, but there's no way to lighten the load w/o compromising.

I have the padded blue force vicker sling on a 223 AR. I use it for coyotes. Fancy for my taste but works good and material is thick and robust. I like it.

You might want to look at a back scabbard. My hunting partner uses one and can pack his saddled tripod in it with his rifle. I use a smaller on for my bolt gun and just slide my shooting sticks down. I also have one like his for my AR and where he puts his tripod I put my shooting stool. I clip my caller to the front of the shoulder straps so I never have to juggle gear.

I'll do some pics this afternoon.

I use a Magpul sling on a Rem. 700 hb .308 with scope and bipod it is over 13lbs. Works great, but I`m not lugging it any great distance. But with the release slider you can get gun into action quickly. I have 4 of the slings and like them all..

I was going to add the same link, all of my hunting guns sport a sling from Slogan.

As mentioned above, Slogan Outdoors

My 6 BR coyote rifle is 14 lbs. I looked at a lot of slings before purchasing the Slogan. I don't remember the model I purchased, but the strap is 1.5" wide.

You can wear it on your shoulder as you would any sling or wear it like a backpack. It doesn't move or fall off your shoulder when wearing it properly.

If you get the Slogan, try it out first the way it's shipped to you before making any adjustments.

The best sling I've experience with my heavy varmint rifles is the no - frills Uncle Mike slings with the elastic shoulder pad which gives a little under load. However, all of my heavy varmint rifles with scopes are in the 10 lbs. weight category. The heavies are used when I do not intend to move around a lot, i.e., sit on tree lines in the evening. On stalking hunts, my favorite kind of hunting, I use light sporter weight rifles e.g., Rem Model 7's.

For predator hunting I do not use heavy varmint rifles because I move around a lot out of necessity. If I get no response from my call after 1/2 hour or so, I move to another location. The last thing I want, or need is a heavy rifle to tote around. Predator hunting is a different kind of hunting compared to ground hogs. On hogs, you can wait on them to come out of their holes. For predators, if they are not in the area, you can all forever but you would see any.

Also hunting here in the east and using a call, almost all my predator shot opportunities are under 250 yards which my sporter weight rifles (and me ;)) are well capable of making these shots off my cross sticks.

I agree on the Blue Force Gear slings. They offer several versions and are well made.
And I believe they are USA made.
