Best bullet puller?

I have lots of reloads for guns I don't own anymore. .44&.45 SWC's mostly and I want to pull the bullets and re-cast the for what I have now. Kinetic will not work with these crimps but I'm hoping a collet puller will. Thanks, James

Is this case that gizmo that Midway sells:
is probably the best bullet puller. The collet pullers seem to work best with jacketed bullets, and a heavy crimp on most lead bullets makes it even tougher.

I pulled a bunch of pullets once where I held the plyers vertical and let them self tighten as the ram was pulled ram down, worked great except, not good on the treads of the press, live and learn moment, holding side cutters horizonal is a better plan

Not sure on cast pistol bullets with very minimal bearing surface to grab but the best bullet puller kit I’ve used is the RCBS collet die. Tried many others and the RCBS collet die system is my favorite. Very easy to use, very strong grip, zero damage to rifle bullets, quick and easy to change collets without removing the die from your press, and very affordable to set up for many different calibers.

I bought a pair of pliers used to bend brake lines at Harbor Freight. I use this to gently rock the bullet and loosen it enough so that the kinetic bullet puller can knock the bullet out of the case. Here it is, works like a charm!

Get the Hornady press mounted bullet puller with collets. You can pull a bullet in about 5 seconds and be onto the next. Just a matter of raising the press ram til the bullet is in the collet pushing down on the bullet puller handle 45 degrees and lowering the ram. then lifting up on the handle 45 degrees and grabbing the bullet. Ive tried about every method and this one I find to be the quickest and easiest. I believe its called the Hornady Cam Lock Bullet puller.

Changing to a different size of collet only takes about 30 seconds. So if you have multiple calibers you need to pull. Changing collets is very quick and easy. This tool is money well spent and will last a lifetime.

Here's the bullet puller

Here are the collets

That is all you need to get up and running.

I have 2 bullet pullers, a pair of electrician pliers and the Hornady Cam-Lock as mentioned above.

If the bullet is going to be scrapped, the pliers are the easiest and fastest to use.

I really like the Hornady Cam-Lock Bullet Puller the best. It does take a little getting use to as far as setting the tension just right on the collet. If it is too tight, you damage the bullet beyond use. Too loose and it slips off the bullet. When the tension is perfect, you can run through a lot of bullets in a short time period. Bullets come out perfect and the powder is also ready to reuse.

i like the collet rcbs puller best but for pistol cast loads with very little bearing i use a kinetic type. with crimped bullets it wont work on a wood bench but it works on a piece of steel- i use the little anvil on the shop vise. just did some 357 last nite

For pistol ammo the only thing I have had work is the kinetic type, 30 year old RCBS. The bullet diameter starts going down at the crimp, round nose faster so no way to grab them. SWC has a relatively short near full diameter section but being lead as you tighten on it the lead flows. Ive got several hundred pounds of lead ingots from used wheel weights. I haveno idea if they even use lead wheelweights now. I would take a bathroom scale and offer 10 cents a pound. Three or four stops and that was it. It wasnt 90/5/5 or whatever Lyman recommended, but the high antimony made them hard. One fellow I knew had some overloads (wrong powder}. He drilled destroyed the cases.
