Best bulk 223 brass

Starline 223 and 5.56 brass are the same with just different headstamps. Just keep checking their website and when it let's you backorder do it.
"The 5.56x45mm NATO is the military version of the .223 Remington, which is one of the most widely used centerfire cartridges today. Starline’s 5.56x45mm brass is identical to Starline’s .223 Remington brass except for a slight change in the metallurgy making it harder at the base of the case."

Their 5.56 brass has been unavailable for quite a while. You can't even back order it. May be a brass supply issue, But it would be my first choice if buying new unfired.

It takes a while to cycle back. My last shipment of 556 brass from them was in late May timeframe.

They recently started taking orders for 30-06 and 7.62x39. Before I noticed, the 06 brass was on my doorstep.

I'll tell you bud, I shoot mixed head stamp, once fired LC brass in my 223 AI because I had a bunch and they were cheap when I bought 2000 processed pieces some years ago. The brass is tough and has survived multiple firings even after being through a machine gun. I did weight sort for my 223 AI for the first 2 or 3 hundred rounds....after that I noticed that that particular rifle just loves misc. head stamped brass. So I just fireform in the field and load to full potential when formed....not even looking at the head stamp other than to make sure that it's LC....I sort out all the factory stuff and save it.

The accuracy speaks for itself....not perfect by any means but deadly enough with a 40 grain Vmax

Id call starline. I doubt youd get much of a discount since they sell all they make, but if i wanted a drum to resell thats who id call. I wonder how many would fit in a drum- 50,000?

Unfortunately, gone are the days of buckets of LC brass nearly given away.
Back in the early '90s I was given two heaping five-gallon buckets of .223/5.56 LC brass. I didn't ask where it came from. Over the years I gave quantities to various people to start them loading. I still have around 500 left, but sure miss that reassuring feeling of seeing a bucket full in the closet!

Something quietly changed with the Govt/.mil brass auctions that kept the market flooded with cheap fired LC brass. I haven't seen a recent online auction in a while. Hope it's not going to scrap.

You can find semi-cheap mixed brass but that's kind of a pain to deal with sometimes, and not the best for accuracy either.

Back when I shot high power, I got 5000 unfired demilled from Pat's Reloading for .0015 each, yes 1.5 cents each, for an unfired case. .30 cal AP was 3-4 cents each. If only I had a crystal ball back then!

Grafs has Starline 5.56 in stock but limits to 2000 pieces. Buying 2000 drops 100 bag price of $33.99 to $29.57 per bag.

Last I heard (rumor) Brandon through executive order forbade LC and military to sell excess 223/5.56 to the public. It's part of the effort of the communist dems to limit availability to that evil cartridge used in the AR-15.

If a 9mm will blow a lung out of your body I can only imagine what a 5.56 would do. Blow the body in 2 pieces probably. (if you're a PD )
