Best brass for 223 and 6.5CM

No I didn't say that. I did say that 97-98% was shorter than trim to length. I also stated it isn't bad brass. Yes it'll work just fine
I will let you know how it measures up when my budy starts loading it in his 6five, as he bought 250 pieces of it.
I was using a light crimp at that time in my life. So consistency was key for uniform results.
No I ain't freaking crimping anymore.
Figured I'd get that out there before I have to hear bout it again.
What I really was wondering was if you were going to sort it based on the length variation? Personally I would be happy with them and go ahead a load them.

the best brass is what you are happy with,,doesn't matter the cost,a lot, a little,,play with it,,what works for me might not work for you,,

Yes I sorted based on length.
I might be a lil OCD if you were to put a label on it.

You might want to consider sorting these by headstamp. There is a good chance that using it for practice will be an exercise in frustration if you don’t. The different brass will likely respond to sizing differently, driving you crazy because your process might be absolutely correct, with your results having a wide variation.

Yes! That is my intent. It does not do any good to load 6 casings from 6 different manufacturers with identical bullets/primers/powder and expect consistent results. But if I load 10 Nosler casings from the same lot, I should get somewhat consistent results unless I'm doing something wrong.

Lapua seems to have one significant advantage in 6.5CM. They have small primer pockets, and I'm thinking that might result in a stronger head for more reloads. Lapua marketing suggests that the reason for a smaller pocket is that it results in better consistency (maybe that's hype). I would think that thicker brass equals less stretch per load.

Sly Iowa Fox speaks words of wisdom. Make your learning mistakes on lesser value material. Good for all aspects of life.

Gotta start looking at dates. There is a condensed view of this forum that skipped a few posts. I commented on a 6 day old post.
Its all about learning though so im good with it.

Personally I hate sorting brass"
I used to save all my store bought ammo brass but the variations drove me to drinking again so I gave it all away and worked with lot # brass. Much easier, more consistent, and cheaper in the long run to load versus store bought.
Just me of course

I found Norma and Hornady brass(only 1 bag of 50 of hornady) at the Cabelas in Buda, TX. I was dancing in the aisles until the sales guy said if I didn't calm down and buy something, he was going to call the cops.

I bought the hornady and left the norma. This is the first time I've seen ANY creedmoor brass on the shelf since march.

Looking forward to lapua brass for long range

I have been using the Hornady brass for 4 years in my 6.5 cm without issue. When you get it there is more prep Hornady then with Norma brass. I do have a Bench Source annealer so that does make a difference. The 6.5 brass I am using now has 6 firing and checks out fine. I have some .243 Norma and it is shorter the SAAMI by .003 on avg so not bad.
