Best Binoculars up to $800.00...?

Best Binoculars up to $800.00...?

My friend ask me to find out what was the best binoculars he could get with up to 800 dollars for his upcoming bear hunt in Montana this coming spring. I am a little confused with there being so many on the market today.
I won't to steer him in the right direction, but thought I better get the opinions of Greater Glass Guys than myself. Thanks so much in advance. Dan

I have a pair of Vortec Viper 10 x 42 Bino’s and am very happy with them.

Primarily for hunting and I just got back fro a deer hunt in GA and found them to be surprisingly bright. And they are compact.

can get them for $500, under your $800 max.

I put an Outdoorsman quick release ARCA tripod mount on the and I’m very happy w that product also. Rock solid. Just a bit pricey but the are far superior to some of the junky adapters being sold.

If he’s willing to spend $800, get a set of Cabelas Instinct Euro binos which are made by Meopta. Very nice binos. Get them in the magnification and objective that suits his needs. OR buy a USED set of high quality binos. Don’t waste $300 on a pair of binos that will get replaced in a couple years.

Watch for sales/discounts on the Leupold Santiam HD, believe they come with tripod adapter. Bx5 lens. These are 800+, but if you can shop, 800 maybe possible.

10x42
I had a pair of these and loved them. I wanted an affordable binocs rangefinder so bought a Vortex Fury. Sold the Leupold BX 4's. I really miss them. Going to buy another pair one of these days unless I try the BX 5 and like it even better. Midway had a special on the BX 4 awhile ago for $399. Kicking myself for not buying them. So much lighter and clearer than the Vortex.

Zeiss, Swarovski and maybe Leica have some less expensive models. I would suggest looking at, then maybe the used market. I've seen Swarovski EL 10 X42 used for $1600. My shooting friends and I all use top end binoculars. It only hurts once, buy the very best you can afford and keep food on the table. Like the rifle the glasses go on every trip.

I’ve had a pair of Steiner binos since ‘92 or 93. 8x30, still clear still work properly. No idea the cost now, back then they were a hair over $300.

Check out the ATHLONS ,you will be pleasantly pleased. My dealer said the service and warranty is great also. He also sells Vortex but recommends the Athlon's.

Tract with the Schott Glass World class for not world class money. No middleman really pays off. I had Swaro EL's, sold them and picked up the Tract's I could own 3 pair for what I sold the EL's for. Not saying that the EL's are not great, because they are the leaders for a reason. Just being a working guy, I can do the same with the Tract with money in my pocket, plus great folks to deal with. Try to discuss your purchase with the President of Swarovski.

If you could find on sale or used a pair of 12x50 RAZORS by Vortex you will be impressed. I am not a Vortex fanboy by a long shot and wouldn't buy one of their scopes myself but I can tell you I sold my Swaro's and Leica after I bought my Razors and looked through many others said by side and chose the Razors, these are the first gen and they were made in Japan, I haven't looked through the new HD Razors. For my eyes they were the best, the ergonomics to my face also fit me better and they were 15+ oz. lighter than any in its class. I have glassed hours on end in these and have never felt under glassed at all.
The Meopta and Cabelas Euro are nice but very heavy and did not adjust to my face/eyes as well, I tried those two along side the Razors and several others outside the store on tripods when I purchased the Razors. I am curious about the KOWA Prominar, I use several of their spotting scopes and they are top notch, I want try out their binos but as of now can't justify it because the Razors are such a pleasure to use.I know Optics Planet was holding a sale on all the KOWA's not too long ago and they have several model levels at a good price.
