Best backpacks for hunting

Load lifters is what takes the weight off the shoulders and puts it on your hips. Don’t even consider a pack without load lifters. A great belt is what makes the weight ride comfortably on the hips.
I can judge the quality of a backpack from ten yards with a quick look at the shoulder straps and hip belt.

You can see the shoulder strappad going over the top of my shoulder and a strap running along the forward part of the shoulder strap and then going up to the top of the frame this strap is the load lifter. It is loose when I put the pack on. Cinch my shoulder straps down first. Then I shrug my shoulders up and fasten and tighten the waist belt. Then I pull the load lifters just snug. This lifts the top of the shoulder straps just off the shoulders and through the frame transfers the load to the belt. You need about a minimum 15 degree angle for the lifters to be effective. At this point all the shoulder straps do is hold the frame to your back the shoulder straps no longer carry weight. I hope this helps you understand . This pack is all but empty and I don’t have it completely adjusted. I just threw it on the take a quick picture. My pack is also a custom Kifaru 28” frame so the top of the frame stays stick up an extra 2”.83AF12E3-7AF4-499D-8812-F4064DFB967B.jpeg

Kifaru is without a doubt the way to go. SOOOOOO much more comfortable when the weights get heavy. Pretty much everything feels good with 50-60#. When it gets over 100# the kifaru really starts to shine. I'd also recommend getting a pack big enough to put your gear AND kill inside the bag. Meat shelves are a good idea but in practice they suck. Watching my buddies mess around with their stone glacier's meat shelves is quite comical. Wouldn't be terrible if you were just carrying a single quarter but having a whole deer in their and having all those quarters and bags squirting out is pretty funny.

Stone Glacier, Kifaru, & Exo Mountain. ALL 3 are top of the line. Stay away from kuiu and all those off the shelf packs!!! I have owned over 25 high end packs. I currently run a Stone Glacier X-CURVE.

Well, there isn't one made that I cant buy. I don't use mine all the time, but for what I do which is hunt, the Badlands Super Day works just fine. Now, in all fairness to all these high end, custom special, wilderness survival, 60 below zero and light as helium packs...I am sure they are beyond fantastic. But the point is mine could be junk with a capital "J" and I wouldn't know it because I haven't had to spend a year in the Northwest Territories grizzly maze living out of a back pack. I do know this, it works just fine for me and hunting in the Jefferson National Forest.

This is the smallest of the Vorn packs. I use it to walk or ride my bike to the mailbox every day which is a 2 mile round trip on a dirt road. If you pull the orange ring, it releases the rifle and you can just pull it out pretty fast.

Pretty good looking pack, the rifle release appears awkward though I assume it works well.

Daughter has a 22 year old mule (YOSHE) I should start using instead of hiking, this hip of mine is getting real bad in fact I need recommendations for a scout pack for strictly essentials.
Any tips ?
