Best AR Smiths

Who out there are some of the best at turning and chambering AR barrels? Im looking for someone that can turn blanks and chamber with whatever reamer I settle on. (I will buy the reamers if needed) Compass Lake and White Oak are growing beyond being a small specialty shop and bordering on mass production. Who out there is small enough to take on one off barrels of whatever configuration I dream up and do a top notch job at cutting a square chamber?

Lee Wells @ Accurate& Reliable. But to be quite honest this isn’t rocket science and any smith worth a salt should be able to accomplish this work without much fanfare.

that being said CLE & WOA both turn out damn fine barrels that shoot a lot of Xs for a lot of high power competitors each year.

Maybe just talk to John at White Oak. A few years ago I asked him for a short chambered barrel for a project. He asked what the project was and said he would fully chamber to my specs. It's still one of the best barrels I've had.

I don't know if Bamban is taking on any work as he is busy smithing the Texas State Junior Rifle team and some of the top Camp Perry type shooters.
Nez is a member here and very well thought of in the Service Rifle community.

If you want ultimate precision, be sure to do a quality assembly such as squaring your receiver and either epoxy or locktight the extension in the receiver in addition to quality barrel work. Extension timed to drill port on a groove is nice, but hasn’t really proven to increase accuracy. Tweaking the gas tube for a perfect fit in carrier key helps too.

Do you have any recommendations for a smith that can do all of this? I know a lot of guys do these things on their own, and I probably could too, but free time is short for me. I would much rather pay someone that knows what they are doing than screw around trying to figure it out myself.

My upper from Lee shoots fantastic.

While I generally agree with this statement, getting ar barrels turned and chambered with a concentric throat that is not full of burrs or deformities is proving to be more elusive than I originally thought.
