Best all around scope for 1000$

Sightron S3 S-TAC 2.5-17.5
An Absolutely amazing scope and performance for something you get for about 800USD. Has sold me completely on sightron as a manufacturer of great optic gear.

Well I do. I have a 6 br dedicated bench rest rifle with a sightron siii 10-50 on it. The new rifle is a 284 shehane that is much lighter and more for hunting but I want to be able to do f class with it for fun.

get a hunting scope and put the 10-50 Sightron on for FClass use,,

Leupold VX3i LRP 8.5-25x50 by far my favorite scope as of late. At least to my eyes much clearer glass than either the Burris XTR or the Nightforce SHV. It has the easiest zero stop system going and offer reticles with as much or as little going on as you like and the best part is you can get it for under a grand. I have yet to have any issues with one. They track perfectly and return to zero as it should. I own three of these myself and have mounted at least 10-12 of these over the last year and had zero issues with any of them.
STOMP442 that’s a real favorable review of the LRP. I was interested in the 6.5 x20 model for my first dial for range scope. Would you recommend the simplistic T-MOA reticle over the Impact-29? Thanks!

Yes, I would but I like things simple. I have never been a fan of busy reticals especially when your dialing all your shots.

Ended up spending a couple more bucks and going with the march 3-24 x 42 ffp in moa. Hope it lives up to the price tag!
You're going to like it. I have one, illuminated w/ tac turrets, on a 280ai semi-long range hunting rifle. Fantastic close up or far out, fairly compact, great glass what's not to like.

I have to chime in here and give my support to the Leupold VX3i 8.5X25-50 with the TMOA retical. I have one on my Remington Long Range 30-06 that has been modified for target shooting and this scope works fine at 1000 yards. I know it does not go down to 5x but it is a very good scope for the money. I have had mine for awhile and when I got it, it had the Target Dot retical and decided I did not like it and sent it back to Leupold for a TMOA retical and it works much better for me now. At least look through one before you buy. Also, made in USA.

The Sightron SIII is a wonderful choice
Yeah i Ike my siii but I went with the march because of the much more compact size, lower bottom mag range for hunting and glass quality. Also having 25 moa on one spin of the turret is perfect because the load I have only needs 24 moa to get to 1000 yards.

my vote goes for the new zeiss v4 6-24. Much better glass than sightron SIII, much bigger apparent FOV than the horrible predecessor HD5 that was a dud, and now has matching MOA turret and reticle. Only failing is they put a capped turret on the windage. Cant understand thier logic on that aspect. They are pushing it for long range so why didn't they put a lockable target turret on the windage turret??

I agree with everything you said here. To answer, Zeiss did the capped windage turret because they could bring the scope in at a lower price point by doing so, and because they had feedback that LR shooters click for elevation and hold off for windage. It would be nice to have a windage turret as an option or upgrade.
