Best 700 Replacement Hunting Trigger

I recently installed a trigger tech on my 700 swift and it made me wonder how the other companies making adjustable hunting triggers are even in business.

For hunting the 700 trigger works fine it's totally adjustable..pull weight, take-up, & overall travel....and you can run it below 2 lbs...zero cost. Just tested one of my Rem 700 hunting rifles, it is 1.75 lb on a 308 9 twist Bartlein barrel, with adjusted stock Remington trigger....If it wasn't good enough I'd change it...shoots nice 10 shot groups with 200 gr SMK in case long range happens, also does good with hunting bullets..I've adjusted all my hunting rifles to 3 lbs or less. I have all manner of aftermarket triggers, old 2 oz jewels, to new 4 oz trigger tech, Elftmann, in target rifles...ARs all run aftermarket triggers in 2.5 to 3 lbs. Price range varies, look for sales... but see if the Rem 700 trigger, fits your hunting needs when adjusted for zero take up, set pull about 2 lbs, and adj the overall travel stop screw...zero cost...

I have all mentioned on hunting rigs. I have the most confidence in my 40x trigger. I like the shoe on the Jewell. They all break well and they all csn be victims of the cold.....Jewell slightly more so.

If you plan to hunt in dusty environments, the Jewell would be one I'd be sure to pay attention to. If you hunt cold and snowy conditions, let your rifle get to temp BEFORE you go charging through the brush or cruising on your snowmobile or atv.

A warm rifle covered in snow in sub freezing temps is the bane of the walker style trigger....all triggers really. My group thought triggertech was the answer to this, but it too is susceptible.

A small butane torch or a visine sized bottle of heet to clear the ice/dirt is worth the 1/2oz penalty.

Beyond that, it's more about which shoe and shape you like than anything. I honestly think a stoned and sprung walker can be a very solid hunting trigger.

In that price range , shilen . Mine was 125$ about 5 yrs ago , not sure what they are now . Zero creep, clean break, no over travel. Early versions will go down to a pound or less . For the $ can't be beat as far as I know.

Timmney 700 hit is a nice trigger. Triggertech primary and special in my 700 was horrible couldn't get pull weight to the lower setting without slam fireing doesn't serve my purpose.tmmney trigger worked perfectly in tthe same 700 and pull weight didn't slam fire set at 8 oz .I dont like the triggertech I wouldn't own another triggertech they aren't worth it to me. Just my experience.

Never been a fan of the trigger tech triggers either. The trigger I use almost exclusively in all my builds now is the Timney Hit. It only costs a little bit more to go first class.

Timney 510 is your best bet for a hunting rifle in my opinion second best would be the trigger tech but its a bit more $$ than a 510

I agree with Sundown about the Shilen triggers. If the trigger is too narrow, just add a trigger shoe to it.
Shilen triggers run about the same price as the good Timneys.
