Best 6mm to 30cal expander?

Which expander works best for one pass expansion? Was first time to make 30BR brass and I had to expand 3 different times to get it to 308 using regular K&M expanders. I know there are a couple one pass expanders but which one is the best?

Also, the donut wasn't bad doing a little at a time and turned off extremely easy. Is is worse on a one pass expander?

Thanks.

Have you annealed your brass lately? I'm not convinced your issue is the expander, but rather perhaps the brass being too hard and non elastic. Just a thought and I too have never had an issue with the K & M or Sinclair Expander Dies.

Sorry, I should've been more clear. I don't have a K&M single shot I have the regular expanders. A standard 30cal expander you cannot start in the neck of a 6mm. So I had to, for that reason, size up to get it eventually onto the .30. It was me just working with what I had at the time.

I now realize that I need to buy one expander that does it with one step.

Thanks

Judd,
I had great success with the K&M 6mm to .30 cal. expander and their neck turning tool with the carbide cutting mandrel. I also annealed between the expanding and turning operations.

You need to try PMA 6 to 30 cal mandrel it's made just for that long and slender one pass . There 6 mm mandrel Works great for 22 to 6 mm also . Look it up.

Take one of your virgin Lapua 6BR cases and measure neck runout and length. Now size it up to 30 cal with a mandrel, be it in stages or a single pass. Measure length and runout again. You will find the case is shorter (you would expect it to be longer) and it will have runout where there was little before. The reason is that all that downward pressure on the neck, which is un-supported from underneath to counter that force, pushes the shoulder down. The thinner side of the case will give more, causing the neck to tip in that direction and inducing runout. None of that matters if you don't expect much from the loads when you fire them the first time. The pressure of firing the case will straighten it right back out.

That being said, my one pass sizer is a 6" piece of barrel chambered with my 30BR reamer. I load up the 6BR case with a normal load using a cheap bullet and fire it through that fire-forming chamber. The cases come out perfectly straight. Since 30BR bullets seat so shallow in the neck, you don't even have to worry about the big donut caused by the new neck/shoulder junction. If it does worry you, you have to run an expander in the case to move the donut to the outside where you can turn it off with a neck turner. It's a good idea to do that from a uniform neck standpoint.

Good luck.
