Best 52 grain match bullet

If your rifle and you are capable, the answer is Berger. More affordable and close is Sierra Match King (SMK). This holds true pretty much across the board in weights and caliber. However, every barrel is unique and will have its preferences.

You just stated.....every barrel is unique and will have its preferences.

So how can you say Berger is best across the board ? Makes no sense to throw a blanket statement out like that .

Daleboy - I think the allcineeyes just means Bergers rule - unless your rifle doesn't like them. Hey - I'll agree with that statement

If my chamber would allow, I would start with 0.010” from touching the lands and go in and out from there. A magazine would limit the overall length.

When i started testing the 50 TNT I found it actually shot best with the bullet more in the case.

IMO any of the 52-53 gr bullets will perform. Your individual rifle, powder, primer, jump may like one over the other. Just like any bullet you need to test them to see what works.
Shooting XTC, I loaded 52 Hornady and 52 SMK’s for standing and rapid sitting, all 200 yards on a generous target, their accuracy and low recoil worked for me. I believe that the .224 52’s were born from bench rest with the .222 Remington prior to the BR and PPC days. There’s also a 53 gr flat base that should be reviewed.
In all, they all work, BTW I’ve shot them with up to a 1:7 and 1:8 twist barrels.

On a cost per trigger pull it's hard to beat the 52/53gr Sierra products. Inside of 300 yards the flat base looses nothing to the boattails and will shoot better with less effort in most rifles.
One of the gun magazines several years ago did an article shooting all the Sierra bullets in a rail gun. Most accurate was 55 blitz king. I forget the sizes but it was shooting very small groups.

Jeff,
Any idea which magazine and issue?
The Sierras are responsible for some of my smallest groups over the years.
