Best .338 lapua loads please...

I need some help with RL25 in a .338 Lapua. 225 gr. and 250 gr. There is nothing on the Alliant site about it.
Thanks
Kevin

My best to date in Sako TRG 42 1x12. 93.5 RL25, 250 grain Lapua Scenar, Fed 215M primer, Lapua brass, OAL 3.680. 10 rounds over Oehler 35P temp 63F, DA 5490, ave. 2949 FPS, SD 7. Needed 21.5 MOA to 1000. Shoots 1/2" to 600, .9 or less from 600-1000.

I shot RL25 in Ulfberht, 89.0 grains, 250SMK, Fed215M, PPU brass, OAL 3.725. This combination averages 2850 fps Magnetospeed and is not a compressed loading. If you go hotter, say to 93.5 grains you will have a compressed loading. Going over 89 grains started to show pressure signs in my rifle. For the 250 SMK bullet I have found H1000 to be better. RL-33 is best for the 300 SMK and is just a little too slow for the 250s, but I find it to be a dirty powder.

I know you didn't ask but I found H1000 to be superb with the 300gr Bergers. 91.5 grains produces a velocity of 2850 from a 28" Bartlein barrel. Unless you are using the 225 or 250's for hunting, I feel that the advantages of the 338 Lapua are diminished when using the lighter bullets.

Regardless, when I was experimenting with 250 gr bullets, I tried RL25, RL22 and H4831SC. 93.5gr of RL25 with a 250 gr Lapua Scenar (3000fps) worked well but wasn't consistent over time. SD was to high. RL22 was not consistent either although 87.5 gr was OK producing velocities around 2937. 91.0 grains of H4831SC produced very low SD with a velocity of 2950. The H4831SC was most consistent and most accurate.

Hope this helps.
