Best 223 bullet for 450 yards

What would be the ideal bullet for a .223 between 100 and 450 yards? Target shooting only, not hunting anything. Twist rate flexible, barrel will be ordered once the projectile is choosen. Lastly, this is for a bolt gun.

Any bullet 69 grain to whatever your rifle can handle. If really limited to 450 yds, 75 to 80.5 should spin easily in a 1:8 twist barrel. Higher the bullet’s b.c. the less it will be affected by the wind.
You’ll want a 1:8 twist, I’d pick a 26” length as it will give you a bit more velocity, which doesn’t hurt. My 1:8 223 and 223 AI’s have 26” barrels. My 1:12, has a 22 inch barrel shooting 52 gr class bullets. They all work great.

450? A H75 match, SMK 69, SMK 77, SMK 80, Berger 80.5, 75VLD, 75 ELDM the list goes on. I use 80.5 for 600 sling in the service rifle, but we have many a person using a 75-77 grain load to 600 yards. Shot some real good stuff at 600 with SMK 77
IF - F class I would pick the one that shoots the best in my rifle and given load.

A 69 gr or 77 gr OTM or TMK would be good. I like the 85gr Match Burner for 750 and closer.

An 8 twist barrel will shot any weight of bullet you like.

I shoot a Tikka .223 Varmint out to 700m (765 yards) in competition with a variety of bullets including Nosler 80gr Custom Comp, 80gr Sierra Match Kings and more recently Hornady 75gr ELD-Ms. Rifle has a 1:8 factory barrel and Hornady says a 1:7 is needed for the ELD-M but I'm getting great results. In Australia the Hornady bullets are both cheaper and more readily available.

I use the 75 ELD-Ms to shoot past 1000 in matches and it works great at closer ranges too.

I'd recommend getting a 7 twist barrel and a .223 Wylde chamber in a bolt gun. Can shoot anything with that set up and you can use MDT AICS mags and load out to 2.550".
