berger VLD thicks.

Anyone tried the new 105g and 115g 6mm berger VLd thick bullets, Was accuracy better than the standard jacket VLDs, also would the 115g VLDs stablize in a true 1 in 8 twist 243 running at 2950-3000 fps, thanks paul.

Any info guys between the berger vld thick jacket bullets over the standard jacket VLDs, Are they both the same dimentions etc.

Paul,
I can’t help you with the 6mm’s, but I have been shooting two different lots of 6.5mm 140 Thick jacket Berger’s and they are if anything more accurate than their thin jacketed ones were/are. I have shot Lot 235 and Lot 1231. I used Lot 1231 in the Lodi Midwest Palma Championships shooting F-Class. It would be hard to ask for a better bullet. I don’t think I had a bullet out for elevation,10” ten-ring) out of the 340 record shots I fired all week.

Paul,

There are no 6mm thicks yet. Here is a post from Eric just last week:

"So far we have made only the 6.5mm and 7mm in the THICK jacket configuration. Remember that the THICK jacket is meant to eliminate or significantly reduce bullet failures. The standard bullets still perform very well.

We will soon be making THICK jacket bullet is 22 cal, 6mm and 30 cal. When these bullets are available we will be posting the news on this forum.

Regards,
Eric"

Thanks for info guys, are the new thick 6mm VLd bullets expected to be for sale this summer, was hoping to try the 105g thick VLds for matches this summer, paul.

We have not made any 6mm Thick jacket bullets yet. All thick jacketed bullets are clearly labeled on the boxes as THICK. Bullets that do not say THICK on the label are made with our standard jackets.

We expect to make the 6mm thick jackets in the next 3-4 weeks. It will take us another 3-4 weeks to make these jackets into bullets. Understand that this is assuming the new jacket tooling will work properly. If these jackets are not as concentric as our standard J4s,.0003 or less) we will not make them.

Regards,
Eric

I don't know what to say Eric, but I was sold 2 boxes of 6mm, 108gr, BT bullets. I was told they were 'thick jackets'.
They are Part# 243108T, Lot# 1220.

Mike

Midway Item# 819150 shows 'thick jacket' bullets "coming soon".

Sinclair Item# 18-6108 shows as 'thick jacket' bullets.

I suppose what I purchased and received are not truly 'thick jackets'.

I think this warrants a call to Sinclair!!

Mike

Mike,

We will contact Sinclair to make them aware of this situation. The thick jacket bullets are new so I suspect there will be some initial confusion as we get these bullets made.

To be clear, all bullets made on thick jackets will say THICK on the label.

Regards,
Eric
