berger vld seating test results...what ya think

I'm definitely not a expert but I only go .003 between groups. Alot of nodes are only .006 to .010 wide.

I’ve had a little luck with that bullet.
Try your .010 in but also .015, .020 & .025 further into the lands.

My tests with the VLD in 25 caliber & 7mm have liked them 0.005 - 0.010" off the lands.
You might try at 2.380", or 2.375".

Every barrel I have likes them .010 - .015 into the lands. For what it's worth.

As you see barefoot there is no, "The Answer ". I would start about .020 in and back up .003 at a time Then take the best spot and try .001 on either side. If what you end up with repeats then play a tenth and 2 tengths either way with powder. I personally usually end up .005 to .007 in the lands. But, every barrel is different. I do this with 2 shot groups.When I get to the repeat stage I do 4.

I think your velocities are off. You should be at least 2800 FPS to 2900 FPS. What is the length of the throat in your gun? I believe if you are that low in velocity, your seating depth test is gonna be skewed. Matt

I think 30gr Varget would be in that range but I believe the #s on the target are seating lengths. I didn’t see any velocity’s unless I missed it

I believe your right, but I didn't see any decimal points.it also seems a little long compared to my Dasher with a .155 freebore. Matt

The Berger depth thing on their site is to get you a rough estimate on what will work. You need to figure out which grouped the best and then refine depth from there. If it were me, I'd be looking at your left hand seating depth, and if that doesn't pan out, try the right one.

FWIW, I had jump at about 80-90 off the lands work pretty well. Goes well against the practice of all the guys who say they have to be jammed, but you can't argue too much with what works.

10 in and 120 out both look pretty good. All else the same, I prefer to jump over jam, so I would play with the 120 myself

Can not tell much without knowing the effect of the wind. It looks like the wind may have blown the one shot out in the bottom 10 in group. I would start at ten in amd work to 25 in and see what it looks like. I can’t see anything in the other groups that I would make any judgment on.
