Berger VLD Seating Depth Test @ 500yrds

Has anyone tried the Berger seating depth test at a distance such as 500yrds. This is the coarse test with large changes. http://www.bergerbullets.com/getting-the-best-precision-and-accuracy-from-vld-bullets-in-your-rifle/
How did it play out?
Normally I do these sorts of tests at shorter ranges but for one reason or another I might have to try at 500.

When the winds are very light is a good time to shoot groups at 500 yds. Initially, my tuner is optimized prior to SD testing. Most of the time time my tuning is done from 7:30-9:00 am. All my ammo is preloaded with a .002 jam. I then reseat the bullets at the bench jumping in .005 increments. The best .005 SD adjustment is bracketed. When the best SD is determined, additional smaller tuner tweaks may be made. Looking forward to hearing what others are doing.

I've done mine at 600. Yields some interesting results.

You either have to have really calm winds with no mirage, or be a lot better than I am at reading those.

If you can get a decent day ,ok
If not you'll waste a lot of Ammo
Course seating at 300 would be my preference.

I've really never done Berger's test, but I'd think doing it 100 and fine tuning at 500 would be optimum. Actually finding for the distance you will be shooting, if just one would be best.

I seat bullets long and bring press, die, and caliper to the range often to get seat depth nailed at 500 yards. Like mentioned, conditions need to be favorable.
I don't know what this box is called, but it has been a lifesaver, I seat long and find depth. Even scored one day w/o a caliper, and managed to shoot every rd, left die in, came home and still money.

I use a tandem setup using partner pressess, one for the seater and the other for the Redding RIID setup to measure base to ogive. They come straight off the seating die and into the RIID gauge for measurement. I nudge each round into place so I hold a tight tolerance and I suspect it helps with run out too.
This is FTR so I have to find the setting that fits from 300 - 1000. Typically I get a good handle on it at 100 and then see how it goes 300, 600 and 1000. .5 MOA or less at those 3 and I start worrying about me and not the load
