Berger & Hornady 338 bullets?

Hey all, I saw that Lapua released their new 338, 300grn Scenar and was wondering when and if Berger or Hornady will release their 338 bullets. The 300grn Scenar has a .810 BC, so I am curious to know how the Berger and the Hornady will compare. I am going to build a new 600/1000 rifle and I am trying to decide on either a 338 Lapua Improved or 300 WSM. With all the new 338 bullets coming out, the 338 sounds very attractive. Pushing a 300grn bullet with a .810 bc at 2900 to 3000fps would be an awesome rifle for 1000 yards.

Just a few observations.

If you could get Dave Tooley to post, he'd tell you that through the years he's only seen a couple of 338's that were competitive at a 1000 yds. Granted, with the new bullets coming, that may change, but how much experimenting do you wanna do?

BC's and velocities are encouraging to talk about, but the best accuracy is not always at the top velocity. Case in point..rookie of the year and the record setting 6 and 10 target aggs. were shot with 300 AI's just poking along.

Rather than re-inventing the wheel, I'd narrow the choices to a 30 cal. in 300 WSM or 300 Weatherby Imp.

Re: Berger & Hornady 338 bullets?

With all due respect,I was loading some 300gr Scenars and emailed Lapua to get the bc info and they sent me back .768 for a bc over2300fps ascending to .75 to.Not sure what the velocity was at the lower end of data. Numbers seemed to work out at range with data cards.
