Berger Classic Hunter Experiences?

Has anyone here had an opportunity to shoot Berger Classic Hunters? Looking at shooting them in a 270.

It is my understanding that the classic hunter is the original VLD which was made as a long range target bullet but was discovered that if you shoot game with it after 2 or 3 inches of penetration it exploded killing game like a grenade went off in it. My only experience with the VLD and game is from only one deer. I shot the deer at 111 yards broadside through one shoulder and exit was just behind the off side shoulder. I was using the 30 cal. 155 gr original VLD at muzzle velocity 2650 fps from my 30X47 rifle. The deer was an average 130 LB doe. At the shot she just squatted a little and took of like a race horse into a VERY THICK CUT OVER. I went to where she was at impact and found on the off side a spray of blood and lung tissue in a line about five yards long and a foot wide. The cut over was so think that the only way into it was down a little deer trail. I had to get down on my hands and knees and crawl down it. From the spot where the deer was shot and about 50 yards down that trail where I found her there was not one single drop of blood. When I found her she had an exit hole that I could have dropped a baseball into and the whole chest cavity sloshed with mush. I know that this is just one sample but I decided to go back to my Nosler ballistic tips that usually kill a deer in it's tracks and if not they don't go but just a few yards and do leave a blood trail. The VLD did just what it is advertised to do though, go in even through shoulder bone 2 ish inches and explode.

The original VLD are now called Hunting VLD.
The Target VLD are newer with a thicker jacket then the Hunting (original) VLD.
The Classic Hunting Bullet are a newer bullet yet, and are made with a shorter Hybrid shape nose that comply with SAAMI standards.

Two shots, two wyoming antelope kills. :)

In 2013 my son and I joined the dark side and decided to hunt pronghorn with the AR15 platform with a 6mmturbo upper from Robert Whitley.

The Berger classic hunter 6mm 95 grain backed by n540 loaded to mag length produced 2888 fps during a test prior to the hunt.

My buck kill came at 323 yards, shooting down hill at about a 20 degree angle, me, the 75 year old guy, hit the rag top buck just under the left eye.
DRT! Lots of blood out the mouth and ear did not make for a pretty trophy picture.

JR's kill was a buck I named "pretty boy" Perfect heart shaped horns with ivory tips and not a hair out of place. The "CLASSIC" behind the shoulder at 175 yards. Just a few steps and he was up side down.

Will we draw for 2014????
