Berger Bullets for big game

"he dropped his buck at an impressive 723 yards with a single shot from my 300 Ultra firing a 168 VLD!"

The only ones that may find this hard to believe.....are just those....that DON'T KNOW!!

I agree. It doesn't surprise me and I don't second guess it one bit from the folks on this board. The average hunter or shooter I wouldn't but the folks on this board for the most part aren't average and they are in the upper tier of the sport/hobby/addiction.

Thank you for the support. It's good to know that I'm in the company of others who understand how hard work, patience, diligence, practice, good equipment, and I forgot to mention practice can pay such dividends! Disbelief is for those narrowminded folks who get to trenched into their own ways and are blinded by stubborness. I love reading about others' exeriences of success afield. Hunting is my true passion aside from my family and I feel very blessed that they enjoy it with me and support the fact that shooting so much only makes us more capable hunters! I wish everybody could have a shooting range across their yard and a long distance range only minutes away like I have.

I have taken 2 whitetail bucks at 260 and 290 yards with a 300 WSM and 175VLDs ,neither deer moved more than the length of their body.I hit both deer at the top of the shoulder to keep them from going on posted property and the wounds were crazy,I have shot lots of deer but never seen hair and blood fly like it does when that bullet hit,I mean POW and DEADER THAN CRAP!!Plus the accuracy is amazing, confidence in hitting what you aim at makes longer shots easier.

I posted in a thread back in the summer about the berger hunting bullet. Some were bashing using the bergers! Maybe they didn't do their research that berger had designed a bullet for hunting? Until now I had never used a berger bullet for hunting. But when nosler came out with the accubond I had never tried it either, but ended up using it alot! Even over the love I have for the partition bullet. Yesterday was opening day of rifle season here in Central NC. Unlce and I are own a new lease this year. We are excited about it to say the least. First thing first tho! The doe population has got to go! So we are both filling all our tags this year on does! That's 12 between the two of us. Might even let a cpl other family members slide in on the action! Anyway shot my first doe yesterday at 279yrds with a berger bullet. (laser Lecia 1200 range finder) Shot with a 270wsm 130gr berger hunting vld. She was quatering away so I slid the round just behind the rib cage on the right side. Upon cleaning her I was carefully examing the orgins. Just as I was hoping the berger would do. Liver didn't excist, lungs didn't excist, heart was still there.....but had mutiple holes in it from fragments of the bullet. Some of the holes in the heart were the size of #2 pencil. The core of the bullet exited just in front of the left shoulder and chest. Quater size exit wound. She never took a step. My uncle was impressed with what the berger had done. So I sold him a box of the 130gr berger's. He reported back to me just a while ago that he had worked up a load this afternoon and has them shooting 1.5 moa at 300 yrds. in his 270win. He is off next week, and the week after that. I'm off the week after next. So at this point it appears that we both will fill all our tags and fill the frezzer's full of meat as well a few others in our family. Knowing my uncle he will take what ever kill shot he can get. Me I'll try and hold out for some broadside shots and quatering to me shots, and some striaght on shots. I'll will report back of my findings. So far I have good confident's in the berger hunting bullet. IMO it does just what the Accubond does, but shoots much more accurate at longer ranges! The next two weeks will tell the tell for me!
