Berger bullet update

"Quite your bellyaching!!!!" Another graduate of the bud lite school of business management. Your advise over the years has been less than worthless. I can't put his name on the tip of my tongue but the other Berger rep that used to be on here at least tried.
At least there's a Berger rep telling you the low down of what is actually going on. Where's the Hornady rep? Where's Sierra or Nosler? I'm sure they're slammed with orders as is everyone else. Berger doubled production. Labor, machines, and tooling isn't free and it takes a lot of effort to double your production in that span of time. I get that people are irritated because they have to wait to get what they, but it appears they're trying. Don't think Hornady isn't focusing on ammunition more than reloading components, same goes for the others.

Thanks for your efforts, Phil (@barefooter56), they are appreciated by the majority of us. Frankly, I'm just happy to see reps from any company taking the time and interest to keep us informed. I am also fully aware that any product availability information we receive at an online shooting forum may or may not be dead nuts accurate. Nonetheless, I'd rather have the information than not. The rest of it I can take care of myself by planning ahead, and buying in quantity well before I'm about to run out of anything.

It would be really great if someone on this board would start manufacturing 80 grain 6 mm bullets. There are lots of guys making 68 grain bullets for benchrest shooters. Why can't somebody tool up for an 80?
Nothing to it but to do it. Dies, jackets, core wire and a little(?) labor. Heck, they'll practically jump out of the point dies and package themselves right up for 'ya. ;)

Or you could hit the Easy Button and order the 80 gr. Dominators from Bart.
Oh, that's right... you can't get jackets. Because you know they're going to all the bullets that that they are making that they aren't selling to reloaders.
The Capstone J4 deadline for orders for future delivery was June 1st. Order your jackets when you order your dies. Hint.....

Good shootin' -Al

I’ve had 80s ordered from Bart for a very long time, and he doesn’t think he will ever get jackets again. Please, Bart, correct me if I’m wrong, but he’s said multiple times on here that he hardly used J4 jackets.

Don Lahr was still making 80s of both flat base and boat tail last I checked, at $800/1000.

Id like to see some 35gr 20 cal. I stocked up on them thank godand watched my shooting, but would love to pop some critters with them again.

What is the difference between Fullbore and Target, and Hybrid?

What is the difference between Fullbore and Target, and Hybrid?
Berger has four target bullet lines:
Hybrid Target - A secant ogive with tangent blend at the bearing surface
Long Range Hybrid Target - A more aggressive version of the Hybrid Target that is factory pointed
Target - A conventional tangent ogive design
VLD Target - A secant ogive design
The 155.5 Fullbore is easy to tune and gives up very little BC to the 155 Hybrid Target. Either is a good choice.

I'm sure a few of you received this message from Capstone
about Berger bullet production. Thought I'd post it.
Production Update
From the Production Floor

Recently, we’ve made significant investments to increase capacity and get you more product! Along with several new bullet machines, there’s a need for more jacket manufacturing as well. The world’s best bullets start with a Berger 4 jacket held to .0003” Total indicated Runout (TIR).

Carlos S., our “jacket guru”, is seen here completing the Herculean task for this new jacket machine – set-up and produce millions of 6mm jackets for our 105 Grain Hybrid Target and 109 Grain LRHT projectiles! Thank you for working your craft and giving 110%, Carlos!
A few favorites running now:

  • 22 cal 77 Grain OTM Tactical
  • 22 cal 80.5 Grain Fullbore
  • 6.5mm 135 Grain Classic Hunter
  • 6.5mm 156 Grain Elite Hunter
  • 7mm 168 Grain Classic Hunter
  • 30 cal 200 Grain Hybrid Target
Others over the next few weeks:

  • 22 cal 80 Grain VLD Target
  • 22 cal 85.5 Grain LRHT
  • 6.5 130 Grain VLD Hunting
  • 6.5mm 153.5 Grain LRHT
  • 7mm 168 Grain VLD Hunting
  • 30 cal 200.20x Hybrid Target
  • 30 cal 230 Grain Hybrid Target
I assume part of the problem with getting 257 bullets is the scarcity of jackets for that caliber? Sierra has 30, 22 and 6mm jackets listed, and none are available. I guess the major producers in the world are working 24-7 to produce ammunition for governments and the Ukraine war has jumped the demand by several fold.
