Berger bullet update

I'm curious if we're going to talk crap about Berger I'd like to know what bullet manufacture, other than custom bullet makers, care about catering to us rather than making more profit? I'm legitimately curious what you guys think? What's the alternative to a truly match grade mass produced bullet capable of winning BR and F-Class matches from a manufacture that cares about us? As far as I can tell, Berger and some Sierras are about the only off the shelf bullets that can compete at the top consistently. I am not talking about hunting, plinking, PRS, silhouette, High Power etc. I am talking the top tier in precision shooting Benchrest and F-Class. I think from the amount of Sierra bullets I've seen available, I think they care less than Berger. I think it's great to see Berger making an effort to make more bullets and making good bullets at that. They're the next best alternative to shooting a custom bullet.

I know that Hornady doesn't make benchrest bullets ( although some are very accurate) but my hat is off to Hornady. Since the beginning of this shortage Hornady never forgot their customers ( handloaders). Where I live their products were fairly easily sourced, at least more than any other company.

yea i love 6mm 80 bergers but its time to move on and find a substitute

It would be really great if someone on this board would start manufacturing 80 grain 6 mm bullets. There are lots of guys making 68 grain bullets for benchrest shooters. Why can't somebody tool up for an 80?

Oh, that's right... you can't get jackets. Because you know they're going to all the bullets that that they are making that they aren't selling to reloaders.

Maybe somebody needs to tool up to make jackets. I wonder how much that machinery would cost. Might be a great business idea. If someone shows me how to do it and gives me a cost I'll look at doing it right here in Tulsa.

They actually do make benchrest bullets or they do make bullets that are certainly capable of shooting at the highest level. I can't remember what they're called they're the ones with the aluminum tips.

woah woah woah lets not through the PRS guys under the bus here. I love how people "think" that us PRS shooters dont want the upmost accuracy out of our rifles. Heck we have enough unknowns in our field the last thing we want is the unknown of the dang gun. no we're not constantly shooting a 1 MOA (or smaller given the x ring) target but the way things are going 1.25 MOA targets are getting to be the norm. Also you you dont have .25 MOA of wobble set in a BR or F class gun. I would also love to see an F class (or bench rest yes i know for record is blind but you do get to see your sighters) match shot blind as in 20 shots for record and you do not get to see any of your shots, now that would be impressive if you can still hold a 1MOA group. Now that im off my soap box, Im not sure why Berger makes the bullets in the order that they do. To me it would make more sense to pump out the 105s 109s 140s 156s 200s 215s 180s etc that cover 90% of the prs and F class folks that 95% of shooters use then the flat based bullets but hey they're trying their best and after all they are not a non profit. Not to mention no other company comes close and i think the proof is in the pudding when you just sit back and ask all the shooters what they are using.

Some companies try to make money by selling a high volume of crap vs others that sell less but high quality pays higher margins. Fortunately we have several bullet manufacturers in the second category.

Bellyaching? Did you really say that?

What has been mentioned many times here is that these companies have
government contracts and they have to be filled first.
Also a lot of people are buying more than they used to due to the fact that
you just can go buy more the next week or month to replace them.

"Quite your bellyaching!!!!" Another graduate of the bud lite school of business management. Your advise over the years has been less than worthless. I can't put his name on the tip of my tongue but the other Berger rep that used to be on here at least tried.
