berger and seating observations

Berger .30 cal 185 gr hunting vld

O.A.L base to ogive using comparator
Lot 2368 1.372 - 1.380 1.698 - 1.700
Lot 3053 1.372 - 1.380 1.688 - 1.689

what im working on, is honing out my seater to seat the bullet, getting as close as i can to the ogive.

before i honed my seater i was seating towards the tip of the bullet which can be .08 difference between bullets. The closer i get to the ogive the more consistent my seating depth gets.

Measuring seated rounds from the base of the case to ogive with comparator: With my honed out seater I am within .001 for the most part and every now and then It will show a .002 difference betwen rounds.

I realize im not exactly at the ogive, but close as the comparator can get.

I would be careful. The closer you get to the ogive the more likely you will jam the bullet into the seater cone, and pull the bullet back out of the case.

yeah i can feel a little stickieness. I used the bullet itself with lapping compound so there are no real binding points.
