Berger 82's for service gun

Hi everyone. I have been shooting Sierra bullets for my entire shooting career but recently my wife won several hundred Berger 82gr BT's and I plan on trying them out for my 600 yard load. Right now I shoot a Sierra 80gr BTHP and use a LC case, 24.2 gr RE15, and use a COAL of 2.50. The Berger 82 seems to be slightly longer so I may have to adjust my depth a little. If anyone has any loads they have tried with the Berger 82 I would love to hear them!

Should be no difrent working up a load for this bullet than the 80gr SMK. Start at 23.0 R15 working up. Try them from .005 off to .020 off the lands. Use your Honady/stoney point to find out where the lands are and go from there. 2.5 is kinda long on some chambers unless you have alot of rounds on the barrel already.
Im guessing your using a WYLDE chamber on your NRA CMP Service rifle with 1:8 twist or faster?

No one here can work up a load for YOUR rifle, it would be dangerous to do so. Its your home work to do so & Your body parts that are risk.

R15 should be a good powder, LC brass should be fine, a CCI 450 Primer or Remington primer should work good also.

Based on countless other Service rifle shooters you should find a load some where between 23.5 to 24.5 gr R 15. AFTER YOU WORK UP TO THAT.
Please be careful.
If your a High Master High Power shooter Im sorry for the extra caution in load work up.

Good Luck

Thanks RT! I am a HM but somedays I think they should take it away from me :) My wife is actually a HM too and somedays she schools me on the range. I will gladly take your advice on using caution. I will be working the load up for her gun as well. Your loads were along the same lines as I was thinking I just wanted to make sure I wasn't crazy.

Thanks again,

Mike
