Berger 80.5 grainer Full Bore Bullets??

Has anyone used them in a 223 as of yet and what kind of accuracy are you getting with them? Are they easier to control then the 80 gr. VLDs? What the heck are full bore bullets anyway?

8 twist will spin em. They are easier to get to shoot than the 90 grainers, same design as the 155.5 and 185 juggernaut that everyone loves.

Still have not fully tested them but 24gr of rl15, with wolf stm shows a lot of promise. 15 thou jump, in service rifle. Hope this helps, good luck

What the heck are full bore bullets anyway?

A FullBore Match is shot with a combination of mid-range & long-range (300 500 800 1000) & is shot 2 to a mound alternating shots. Olny 308 up to 156gr & 223 up to 82gr are legal.

Is there much difference between this Berger 80.5 grain full bore and Berger's 82 grain BT match? I shoot in 400 yard varmint matches and looking for a heavier bullet to shoot in my Savage 1x7 twist 223 LRPV to minimize wind drift at this distance.

The 80.5 is a later and in my opinion FWIW, an improved design. It has a slightly higher BC, significantly longer nose section and a compensatingly shorter bearing surface that should allow it to be driven faster within acceptable pressures. In fact, looking at Berger's data sheet, the 80.5 has the shortest bearing surface of any of the match 224s in the 70-90gn weight range. Berger lists it at 0.309" compared to 0.377" for the 82, and 0.354" for the 80gn VLD. In that respect, it mimics Berger's outstandingly successful 0.308" long-range designs, the 155.5gn BT Fullbore, 175gn LRBT and 185gn LRBT 'Juggernaut'.

As always, buy one box and try it in your rifle. If your barrel doesn't like it and so won't produce small groups, the BC value and design attributes count for nothing.

my rifle shoots the smk 77 really well but looking for better wind bucking bullet out to 600yards
i was thinking the Berger 82gn's but reading your comment(which i highly respect) about the 80.5 fullbore i am now thinking that my thought process is wrong.
the smk 77 have long bearing surface and thought that the 82's would do just as good.

any thought?
