Berger 73 Grain

Looking for a bullet in the mid 70 grain area for my 223 F-T/R. Anyone have experience with the 73 grain Berger at 300 to 600 yards?"

Thanks,

Tony

Never used the 73 grain bergers but I shoot the 75 grain Amax out of my 223AI and they shoot great. I've shot those out to 900 yards on metal gongs and they do great out of my rig.

I found the berger 73g accurate but the Hornady 75g A Max IMHO is a far better bullet in the wind and it also shoots a lot flatter.

They shot great out of my 1 in 9 tube on my ar-15.They used to be called a length tolerant bullet. You can seat them to fit an ar mag and even though they take a big jump, they shoot very accurately.

For the guys shooting 75 Amax, what's your cartridge OAL, tip to tail and are you jumping, if so, how much.

My OAL for my 75s are 2.485. I run them jammed in my 223AI down a 1 in 9 twist barrel. Being an ackley I can't run it as a repeater so fitting in a mag was my last worry.

The 73 berger will be a challenge at 600 yds. in windy conditions. 80gr. bullets loaded close to the lands would be much better.

75 A-maxes jamed .015" in my Tikka for a COL of 2.488"
