Berger 6.5mm 130 gr AR Hybrid OTM

I ran them in my AR-10 47L with fair results. I decided the 130 and 140 Bergers, and certainly the 123 Scenars were better.

Tried them in several 6.5 Grendels with poor results.

If you have any luck, i would sure be interested, as I have 300 remaining.

They suck. Send them to me and I will dispose of them for you.

They're good, although to be honest I couldn't shoot the difference between them and the 130VLD, they're both top bullets, I'd go with whatever you can get your hands on at the time.

I have shot them in my 260 Remington. They are the best shooting bullets for me along with 140 Hybrids. I am getting 3010 out of a 30 inch med Palma barrel and I am not pushing them at all. Compared to the 2810 with 140 hybrids, the ballistic program shows they actually will have less drop at 1000 than 140's and run 100 fps higher at 1000.

Sorta off topic. There is a rumor that AR format rifle chambered in 6.5x47 Lapua have trouble feeding because the shoulder is too far back. Any truth to this? Can you share any misfeed/round chambered data?

I had heard that also before I built mine but I have not experienced that problem with my Mega Arms MATEN using PMags. I also heard the "pierced primer" stories. I talked to JP Rifles about their LMOS BCG with their High Pressure Bolt prior to my build. It is a great combination with the SLR adjustable gas block. I have not had any problems with pierced primers as the HP bolt uses a smaller firing pin than most 308s. So far I have not had any malfunctions of any kind. I'm using a Bartlein 1-8 barrel and am just starting into load development. I think it will be a real hammer once I find the right load.

I am on my second 6.5 x 47 barrel on my prrsonal AR-10.

At roughly 3000 rounds total for both barrels with no feeding issues.

Ive built several others for customers and they run fine also.

Good to hear, I was talked out of a 6.5x47 AR, when i run out of barrel life and brass, I will revisit.

What coal are your loads, and what is your freebore?

I have designed my own 6.5x47 barrels in 3D CAD system, and one design feature on the barrel does help with feeding long slender small diameter bullets.

There is only one 6.5 bullet that might give feeding trouble - the Berger 140 VLDT.

I have even had success with the 6 x 47 Lapua working well in the AR-10.

All loads are 2.800" or shorter, to fit metal mags. I have reamers for both, the 6 x 47 is .104", and the 6.5 x 47 is the (CIP) reamer from PG&T, and I cant recall the F.B. off hand...

Is your barrel extension custom (non-standard) or are your mods just on the barrel?

I use a standard AR-10 barrel extension.
SG4247,
In most cases with the 6.5 130 OTM all that needs to be done for load testing is to load the bullet tin the cartridge case to magazine length and find your velocity accuracy node. Since this is a HYBRID bullet that incorporates both the secant (VLD) and tangent (STANDARD) ogives into a SAMMI length nose dimension they ate very tolerant of jump. The 6.5 140 VLD would work better in a single shot mode . The VLD can be a little finicky with what seating distance on or off the lands it likes. This in combination with the over SAMMI length nose dimension do not make this bullet very magazine friendly. HTH
Take care,
