Berger 200 hybrid question

Andrew, there is a Bryan Litz 'trick' that's very useful when doing your sort of paper ballistics exercise assuming you know what your existing load runs at. Calculate the ME for your existing load and then redo it in reverse for the alternative to get a potential MV. Unless the freebore is every limiting, you can usually obtain the same amounts of MEs with different bullets in any given rifle at similar pressures, changing powder grade if necessary.

So, If you're running the 185gn Juggernaut at say 2,700 fps, that's 2,994 ft/lb ME. The equivalent MV for a 200 is 2,597 fps.

(Run that pair through the Berger online ballsitics program and the 200 gives a useful improvement at 1,000 as expected 1,324 fps retained vel rises to 1,384 fps effectively taking it out of transonic flight, and 8.4 inches sideways movement per 1 mph crosswind change reduces to 7.6.)

At Bayou Rifle everyone that's shooting F/TR is using Varget. I was the last deviant only because I hadn't been able to find it. All's well now.

That is a good 'trick'...
