Berger 180 Hybrid vs Berger 180 VLD Target

This may have been beaten to death but I finally ran out of Hybrids but have 500 rounds of VLD Target. I loaded up ten rounds of the Target bullets last night using the same load as I previously used with the Hybrids. Five jammed and five 0.002 off the lands. I really don't want to go down that rabbit hole and have to start load development from scratch right now with hunting season right around the corner. Am I wasting my time, and bullets?

I wouldnt think you are wasting your time and bullets. With the vld's I have always had good results from .010- .020" off the lands. Shoot what you got and see what it tells you, shouldn't take long to dial in

15-20 ITL or 40-80 OTL for me in VLD’s

I suggest you strip these rounds and do NOT shoot them! If you are switching from the HYBRID to the VLD bullet. Even though they are the same weight they are two totally different bullets. If you want to save some time and you know what the how far off the lands the HYBRID bullet liked it. Build a " dummy" round to the lands with the VLD bullet to find what its CBTO has to be to get it the same distance off the lands. Reduce the powder charge 1 GRAIN and work up load slowly checking for pressure signs and accuracy. This has worked for me and may for you. I made a VLD dummy round a few weeks back (CBTO) and I'll check what the CBTO of the hybrid was and compare the two. Thank you.
