Think you're right I grabbed up four 5r Bartleins with 7.5 twist for the 156 gr. Berger and the 150 smk. Glad I did.It looks like a GREAT bullet! However, the site states minimum twist 1-8! Methinks that may be a bit optimistic! I would opt for a 1-7.5 myself. If it shoots (and it should shoot well) this could be a real ticket for the 6.5 x 284! AND with my experience with the 150 SMKs, I would also opt for a 5R barrel, as opposed to a 4 groove conventional style rifling.
I believe you to be a wise man my friend! Excellent choices!!Think you're right I grabbed up four 5r Bartleins with 7.5 twist for the 156 gr. Berger and the 150 smk. Glad I did.
The Berger site said something bordering on .700>>like .693 or some such number like that..Any word on the bc of the 156?
Generally, 6.5s are some of the most accurate cartridges in existence, especially out past 300 yards. I have found that VERY long bullets can be a bit "finicky" to get right, no matter the caliber.. I am hoping that this one has been tested to the point that any "bugs" that may have existed have been eliminated. Only time will tell..Thank you. If they shoot as good as the 20x's I've tested, that would be awesome.
If you still have not chambered up a barrel yet, spin up a 6.5 x 284>>>you'll love it and it will easily push those 156s no prob..I was settled on a 6.5x47 with 140's for 1000 yards, but now these are out I may have to use a bigger case. Not sure.

Same to you, my brother, welcome home. That was long ago, but still fresh in our minds.Willie!
Look at the 6,5 x68 Shuler. Faster than the 264 WM, and no stinking belt to complicate your life.
Americal brother. I was in the Ranger Company of the 23rd. That was our repelling tower down on the beach next to the Repo Depot.
Welcome back, and thank you for your service.
