Berger 140 VLD or hybrid for 6.5-284?

I'm close to deciding to buy a Savage 6.5-284 I saw on the wall. Hopefully, not taking just long enough for someone else to buy it...:)

Anyway. I'm thinking of the 140 grain Bergers, the main goal being something effective for Boomershoot.

The hybrids are supposed to be less seating depth sensitive. How much less? Any strong recommendations one way or another?

Yeah, I know you need to see what your rifle ends up,liking, but, you've got to start somewhere. ;)

Put this in this forum as I am specifically looking at the 6.5.

Thanks.

I have a single shot Cooper 6.5-284 that has a relatively long throat. I have shot the 142 SMK first, then the VLD and now the Hybrids out of it. I even used Partitions in Africa and Alaska with it. I honestly am amazed that it still shoots as good as it does, but it definitely isn't what is was when new. I found no discernible difference between the VLD and the Hybrid in my rifle, accuracy wise (at least with a 22x scope at distance). Same powder charge, same seating depth setting on the Forster BR seater.

When this rifle gets a fresh barrel, I will just use the Hybrids as I know they perform well on game and targets. The Hybrids are my go to bullets in the 284 Shehane rifles as well. Use the Hybrids and don't look back.
