Berger 105VLD OAL

OK, I know the 6mm Berger 105 VLD's shoot best .010-.015 into the L/G's. My question is can you push them to far into the L/G's? Say .030-.070 and will this affect accuracy? Lets say your using a standard load of 30grs Varget, Lapua 6 BR brass and Rem 7 1/2 primer. What do you think?

jr, I don't think you would be able to push a bullet that far into the lands without seating the bullet deeper into the case by the bolt camming action. Just my opinion. Bill

Watch those primers, I know for a fact they will not handle that pressure. Go with a CCI br4 or #450. I had the Rem's blow with 30 gr of varget..

A little more on the rifle and load. It's a Ross Precision 3 lug action with a 31" Krieger 1/8 barrel. The 105's are molly coated. Fired cases show no sign of pressure and primers are dimpled in the normal way, velocity runs around 2800. The OAL is long so the bolt soft seats the bullet upon closing. I was just wondering if this causes accuracy to fall off rather than just seating them .010-.015 into the L/G's. I've heard soft seating will deliver the most accuracy with these bullets? Any ideas?

You'll have no problems using the Rem 7 1/2 primer in your Ross, as long as you remain at 30gr Varget and using moly.

"Fired cases show no sign of pressure and primers are dimpled in the normal way" - This usually is a pressure sign. Then again, some primers are more liable to dimple than others.

No, there will be no negative accuracy decline because of soft seating the bullets. Yet, soft seating the bullets does not guarantee higher accuracy performance. My.02 cents
