Bergara B14R

The rifle will not be shot in competition, as I'm a varmint hunter and will be shooting bulk ammo. All the reviews on these rifles I was very impressed, and this is why I bought them. I know the 22 is a match chamber, but that shouldn't be a problem being in a bolt configuration. I have not shot either. I'm simply preparing for some mods and head spacing in order to accommodate the bulk ammo if needed. I was well aware of this before buying. In regard to barrel replacement, that is somewhat last case scenario. Seems to me there hasn't been a bunch of work done on these rifles as for accuracy work.
I bought the B14R trainer barreled action with the threaded 20" heavy barrel a month or so ago.

My goal with any of my 22's was to find the cheapest stuff that shoots the best, as I'm not gonna pay 50 cents a shot for the "good" stuff just for groups. I stocked up years ago with oodles of high speed hollow points with the plan to head west for some gopher shooting that never really materialized.

I probably have gone through better than a couple dozen different brands & lot numbers of ammo. It shoot most of the high speed copper bullets around 3/4" for 10 shots at 50 yards. I've yet to have a good day with light winds to eke out the best groups.

I also have 6-7 lots of Federal Automatch that shoots the best. One lot consistently shot pretty good, so I ended up buying 9 more 325ct boxes of that lot. Best 2 groups were back to back 3/8" and 1/2" ten shot at 50 yards. A lot of bang for the buck at 6.5 cents per shot.

Absolutely no issues with chambering or extraction of any of the bulk ammo I've shot. The bolt handle is still snug when closing, even after putting over 3K down the tube. I can live with it, & it's getting a little better.
