Benchresty AR butt stock

I am going to build a rifle for a local "AR Varmint Benchrest" shoot. I can use a mechanical fromt rest and a rear bag. I'm looking for a 'most bagable' butt stock for a rifle length buffer tube.

I did some searching but have not found anything that jumps out at me.

Magpul PRS..

I have 4 or 5 of them. I run on a Seb Neo front rest and Protektor rear bag

PRS was my first thought too.

If you already have an A2, the EGW bag riders are pretty good too.

I used a PRS for an AR10 project but noticed the bag riding area had a slope so I made a wedge out of delrin to make it more parallel.

I am starting basically from scratch so the A2 is a possibility. @Switchbarrel The EGW bagrider looks to make the butt stock pretty much level which is what I am looking for. Weights for the A2 seem to be readily available. That would help. There is no weight restriction for this game.

Are there any other cheats, er, accessories I should look at?

The rules are pretty loose, AR style rifle AR-15 or AR-10, not more than .35 cal, must be gas operated, no bolt AR's. That is pretty much it.

I like my A2 butt stock with rabbit ear bag. I also love the storage compartment for allen wrenches, cleaning kit, bottle opener, condoms, snacks, tire pump, jumper cables, etc. jd

See if you can find someone with a used gen 1 or 2 magpul prs stock. They are flat on the bottom.

The PRS is a good option… I know of no good way to add weight to it however…

Luth AR. I have a couple AR-15's and 10's wearing them. Get a flat fore end and you are good to go. At least as well as I can shoot an AR off the bench.

I concur with the suggestions here regarding the Magpul PRS stock. I have two versions, the Gen2 and new Gen3. The benefit of the gen2 is the flat toe. It accomodates a flat topped rear bag so there is more stable purchase on the bag ears. Unfortunately, the newer gen3 now has a more conventional angled toe. Not bad, it just works better with an angled top rear bag so you get the same purchase on the ears as the flat version. Acquiring a gen2 might be tricky because they have been discontinued. I use my gen3 with one of my Edgewood standard bags that is angled and it works great. The bottom of the gen3 is sculptured and milled for M-lok attachments so there may be an aftermarket wedge that could be attached. Just keep in mind, you want an ear spacing that prevents the bottom of the toe from dragging on the flat of the bag between the base of the ears, unless you "hard shoulder" the stock. If anyone was interested, that wedge measured (or rather calculated) to be 4.9 degrees.

Edit: I took another look at my measurements. I flipped the lower over and put the flat portion against the bottom of the vise (on parallels). Bottom of the vise was less than .001" off. Then measured across the length of the wedge. The thick end was .024" too thick. When that gets corrected the angle would end up being 4.61 degrees.

I ordered one of these for the front and rear.

The EGW for the resr has an insert that uses the slot in an A2 to lock it into position.

There is a lead weight insert made for the A2.

This is of course assuming you are not happy with the standard service rifle .75-1 moa groups and calling it good enough

I've been getting a little better than half moa out to 500 yds during match conditions at our groundhog matches.

I am curious what kind of groups the "benchresty" ARs are producing. What other mods to the rifle are you finding important to get those groups?
