Benchrest shoots near Elko Nevada?

I'll be moving to Nevada the first part of October. I was wondering if there are any benchrest matches held anywhere within reason. Couple hours from Idaho and about 3.5hr to Salt Lake and maybe 6.5hr to Vegas.

Sacramento is about 6 hours, that might be the closest before Palisides Colorado or Missoula mt.

Check into Palomino Valley Gun Club. They shoot north of Reno. It is a drive, but I knew a guy from that area who shot there regularly, maybe still does.

We do not have any bench rest matches on the calendar as the match director that was running the short range matches moved to the midwest. We may run some 600 and/or 1000 yard at some time in the future if there is enough interest. Currently we have 600 and 1000 yard high-power/f-class matches each month (usually the last two weekends of the month) as well as several other events. Don't know about any ranges, but you can pull out trophy after trophy fish at the Ruby NWR. Its one of the greatest duck hunting places in the USA too. On opening week of duck hunting there was exactly 1 group of 4 guys and ducks unlimited...Many of the ranges in the area were planted with ruffed grouse and nobody even knows they exist. Not to mention world famous chukar hunting nearby and Himalayan snowcock the only place in the USA. Oh snap, there are also huns near elko and a couple California quail around. How could anyone who lives in elko have time for shooting paper ?!?! Did I mention my mom got stuck on I80 for 2 hours cuz the stupid elk heard? Could just kill em with a 2x4 and some balls....

Palomino also has a Long Range Varmint Silhouette match every month that is a hell of a lot of fun and very challenging and addictive. Me and some buddies were driving there every month for quite a few years from Ca. to shoot it, and I'm 4hrs away. A great bunch of guys over there, we even joined the club. There are a couple guys from Elko that shot it also.

Huh? Reno is between Elko and Sacramento, and less than 4 hours from Elko, with a very complete regional shooting facility. Regular benchrest matches up to 1000 yds and up to 50 BMC.

I've been to Ruby NWR when we went to visit my son. Once I get out there and settled in a little ill get to explore the area.

Benchrest match in Springville, UT 1st weekend in May and August. I think they still shoot in Vegas a few months a year. There’s also a couple of matches in Hurricane, UT. You didn’t say short range or long range! The matches above are all short range BR.

They mostly shoot 600 and 1K F Class and CF and small bore tactical. Currently no BR of any kind as far as I know. Always a good bunch of guys.

Elko has a pretty nice public range, west of town and north of the interstate. We rented one range for a club egg shoot during the PM convention. I hunt coyotes around there. You just might want to get something started there.
