Benchmark barrel for 284

I am wondering if anyone has experience with these barrels I can get a realy good price on these barrels and have never tried one.

I am building a 284 win to shoot the heavys 180grainers so I will be getting a 1-9 twist.

From what I heard they make great rimfire barrels but would like to hear about people who have tried there centerfire barrels.

I had one on my 284 f-0 rifle I used ther 6 groove, shot excellent, some of the details below

Greetings,
I have a 3 groove Benchmark in 6BR, with close to 600 rds through it. A 200-16X on the 500yd MR-65 was its best so far, prone with irons. I am quite happy with Benchmark. Several friends have Benchmarks and all are getting great results.
Take care,
John

My 30 cal 11 twist 3 grove has been spectacular. I've shot groups as small as 3/8" at 300 yards, but my load averages closer to 5/8" at that range in calm conditions. I'm still sure that some of my group size is me - I shoot F/TR and do everything from the ground. I'm going to go out of my way to find a 300 yard mid-range match next year to see if I can put up a score near what the rifle is capable of.

Of course, it is NEVER calm during a match and the wind always wins...

I've always wondered how the 3 grove barrels would wear compared to others. I have had a little less than .020" of throat wear per 1000 rounds of 308 win. I shoot string fire and do run it hot. This is the same rate reported by LaurieH, so I think that is a moot issue. Borescope inspection shows a perfect interior finish. It does clean up well and I tend to run well over 80 rounds through it between cleanings without any loss of accuracy.

The particular thing about this barrel is that it is hard to get it to shoot much worse than 5/8 MOA if one is trying to run it in a node. Most everything I put through is 1/2 MOA or better. I even shot it last year with 208 Amaxes running 70 fps above the node and got good results shooting 3 straight 199's at 600 yards against the F-class target. Every one of those 199's featured a wind induced 9 though...
I've also shot cleans at 600 against the same target with 155's. X count runs better than 50% and I believe that I am the limiting factor there as well.

I almost forgot, the Benchmark is a pre-fit mounted on a Savage hunting action that started life as a 30/06... I've been more than blessed with this rifle!

I'd recommend their barrels, but I'd like to keep them all to myself ;)

Luv my Benchmark...it is an amazing barrel to shoot and helps make up for my perpetual ineptitudednesses.....

Cleans super easy too. Will be ordering another soon....

I have also had great luck with the benchmark tubes, calibers so far:

.22-.243 ackley
.243 ackley
7 rem mag.
.338 edge.
