284 win. 180 SMK

Building a 284 f class rifle and waiting on barrel. I ordered a Brux 9 twist after talking to a friend and competitor that has succeeded at state and national level. I trust his opinion over almost all others. He has tried 8, 8.5, 8.75, and 9 twist barrels and only uses 9 twist currently. Wondering if 9 twist will shoot the 180 smk. I see sierra says to use a 8 twist. Looking for first hand experience with what I hope to be a alternative to the 180 hybrid.

180g SMKs shoot just fine for me out of my 1:9 twist CBI barrel out to 1000 yards.

I used them in a 9 twist Rock Creek from a 284, no problems.

I started off with the 175gr SMKs in my 7mmWSM and 280Rem. When the 180's came out I emailed Sierra and the technician I talked with said the guys that people he talked with that used the 175s that tried them went back. So I never messed with them.
