Bench top primer tools

I use a RCBS bench primer tool, and it is a real treat to use. I drilled out the opening on some extra Dillon and Hornady primer filler tubes, to accept the tubes from my Dillon primer filler. It makes filling and priming a snap.

For my varmint and hunting rigs, I use the RCBS bench tool. Have multiple tubes for the different types & brands of primers I use.

Personally I prefer a my hand held over my bench tool...........I have a better feel for any Primer pocket issues.

Which brand do you have? My Lee wore out and would not fully seat LR primers. I bought an RCBS and it would not seat my 223's below flush, let alone completely. I've emailed RCBS and they told me to send it in. Just haven't done it yet. I know they'll stand behind it.

I have a Forster co-ax bench primer. Works well. Loading the tube is slower than the Dillon tubes. The feel is close to my 21st century hand tool.

I use it for AR and other non critical loads.

I use an RCBS....I believe they call it the "universal".....(no shell holder).....I've had no issues with it at all. It's very easy to tell when your pockets are getting loose based on the amount of pressure needed to seat it, with the bench mount it all feels the same to me. I want to say they claim it won't seat lower than .223, but I seat .204's with no issues, .223's seat easily also. Maybe you have a defective unit, I'd send it back. On a side note I thought I lost my small primer seater post, called RCBS and they sent another one out pronto.......I didn't loose, I just miss placed it, lol.

I have had a rcbs for over 40 yrs, works great

I've got the 21st century hand priming tool, its one very sweet precision tool, takes very little effort yet gives great feel and control over depth.

whats the advantage over something like a fine hand priming tool like from 21st century?

Or even the KM hand priming tool? I've yet to see any advantage in improving a downrange score by any of these "precision primer loaders." But I admit, they sure look pretty. Just not convinced they are worth the extra expense.

For hand priming, the 21st Century version is adjustable and a precision tool.

I completely agree and own other 21st Century pieces that I rely on because of they're "precision." But so is the K&M Hand Priming Tool that makes the same claims of "precision" and has been around longer than 21st Century started making one. So separate of the tools themselves. can someone point out how an "adjustable" hand priming tool made with "precision," has improved their score downrange. All these tools are wonderful, neat and rather expensive. But are they worth the extra expenditure? I mean for $600, I can buy are REALLY nice auto Annealer or several rifle components including a complete AR (probably won't shoot worth a crap) but still.....further, I've tested my K&M priming too at various primer seating heights and tested it in my 30BR and 6mmbr (my two most accurate rifles) casings using my best loads and still no change or noteable improvement in accuracy. In short, absent a personal preference in reloading procedure (primer seating), I'm just not seeing an advantage to changing to a $600 primer seater over my $59.00 K&M which is what I paid years ago when K&M first came out with their adjustable primer seater. But I will admit, if I were looking for a new hand primer, I'd call John at 21st Century and have him send me one.
