Bench Source annealing machine

Okay, just ordered one from Brownells (backordered) and what to know what else I need, I plan on getting a a "T" type hose that will supply both torches, I have the 20lb propane so I need 2 benz o matic heads? How is the tempiqul applied? What else?

Not much! I cover the inside of the neck with the templac on three pieces of brass. I can usually dial the timer right with three. Steal a couple old bread baking pans from your wife to catch the brass.;)

Add: I went to the internet and bought 2 torch heads with 3 or 4 foot hoses that attach to the small tanks. The small tanks are pretty cheap these days and I can anneal thousands of brass before they need to be replaced. I thought they would be safer to use and keep in my shop than the big tank. Possible leaks and all.
The machines are great. It goes quickly. I think you’ll like it!

The Bench-Source comes with a very good instruction booklet. It really gets you on the right path toward doing the chore correctly.
When I first got mine back in around 2011 I bought some Tempilaq in two different temperature settings; one for the neck and one for the case head. I soon figured out there is more skill required to proper and repeatable application of the Tempilaq than to annealing. I anneal in a darkened area so I can see exactly how much heat my brass is getting.

Could you post a picture of your torch tips and hose set up? Or a link to the hose you use?

I can’t remember where I bought the hoses on line. The packaging went in the trash ten minutes after getting them. Here’s the annealer. I made a little kicker out of a piece of aluminum flashing to push the brass into the baking tin. Also, here’s a pic of a simple search and the one they have at Home Depot.

Could you post... a link to the hose you use?

...found everything needed to split two feeds from a single 20# propane tank in the camping section at Walmart, near the Coleman stuff. About $25, IIRC.

Using a larger tank, like a 20#, has some advantages. Besides never worrying about having enough gas to finish the job, the pressure (and thus the flame) is more uniform from start to finish, and it's a helluva lot cheaper.

That little kicker is a swell idea - thanks.

It’s just a 4”x 4” piece of sheet flashing with a bend in the middle, there’s a little 1” wide tab at the top that’s bent to hook over the side plate of the machine.

I got the torch heads from Benchsource. Hoses and fittings at Ace Hardware. Bought a little 5 gal bottle from Ferrel Gas. Done! Works great!
