Annealing Torches

I have a new Bench Source annealing machine and they reccomend using a cheap torch. My question is the ability to set the torch to the same heat value each time. Would it be better to buy torches that are regulated so all you do is puch the button and it lights with the same gas flow each time? What are you guys using for torches and how do you like them for repeatability? Thanks.....

I use two cheap bernzomatic UL2317 brass torches. They're unregulated. Per the instructions, I turn them up just to the point where the flame ceases to increase in size, and have them intersect right at the case neck. Works for me. YMMV.

Propane is a liquid under fairly low pressures in "normal" tempuratures, so the tank as long as its kept upright will release pressure very evenly. If you ever unscrew the top of your torch (the actual torch not just take the torch off the tank) you would see (or maybe not) the tiny, tiny hole that the propane is released through.

What im trying to say is there is nothing much to improve on. The regulators you see on grills and other types of propane powered burners are made for propane cylinders capable of an output of propane nearly as fast as propane can turn from a liquid into a gas.

I just went to lowe's and bought 2 of an off brand but decent quality torch that are identical. They came complete with the propane and striker. They work perfectly.
