Bench Rest stock

Hi I have a question for someone who shoots Bench Rest guns.
I bought a bench rest stock from Richards Microfit and the bottom of the butt isn't flat it hooks down at the back I don't know if It should stay like that or I should change it and make it flat any help would be greatly appreciated thank you .

I, have recently bought two "benchrest" type stocks also, one with a relatively flat bottom, and one that is hooked.

They both work well off the bench with bags, and from the prone position.

The hook is to help you bring the stock into your shoulder a little better or give the bag someplace to rest.

Just like many other parts of this sport one mans bench rifle, is another mans beginners gun. So spend some time working with the stock as it is, you might just love it. If not sell it or modify it.

I don't know why that hook is there on The Richards Benchrest style of stock. Everyone that I know that has that style of stock has removed it.

thank you so much for the quick reply this stock is going to need a pile of work anyway so I am thinking now is the time to do the changes that way I will only have to clear it once.
I was very disappointed in the inletting had to take 3/32 of a inch off the left side to get the barrel centered and the underside by the trigger hole makes me think they employ beavers to do the shaping and its a lot lower then the magazine part of the floor plate so I will have to take the rest of the bottom down to get rid of the beaver tooth marks.
