Bench mods

So I finally got setup to load. Please excuse the messy bench as I am still modifying it. I have decided to add a bin kit and a couple of new quick attach plates for my tools (case trimmer and concentricity tool) where my vice is. In the future I will probably add a tool head storage solution of some kind. I want to get setup to load a few more calibers. I did some research and while I haven’t had any big issues with my chargemaster I did go ahead and incorporate an anti static mat and used the wristband with a longer cinch strap to surround the powder bin. I have noticed my case drops of BLC2 no longer have the occasional 1-2 grains hanging around the top of the inside case neck which may have been static related.

Danged if you ain't getting a whole lot of service from the one bench. I would have stuff knocked over and in the floor with everything that tight. Kudos no doubt.

I am a noob. I just started but honestly I have a bad habit of going all in. Ham radio, old RC cars, hunting, etc. I can take up alot of space in a house, lol! There is a much larger workbench to my right but it has other equipment on it. For the tiny amount I intend to reload this should work.

I recently purchased that H F bench and placed it in the center of my 12' X 20' reloading mancave. Really sturdy and lots of good storage space for tools in drawers and down below shelf.

I put the ammo boxes in there and there is an anvil underneath as well. I can barely move it pushing my 230lbs body into it. Plenty of YouTube guys have modded theirs for various uses. It’s a decent bench. The new ones have 3 drawers instead of 4. I modded mine so 1 set of 2 drawers is actually double depth and acts as a single deep drawer. I wish I had a sturdy backboard and some overhead lighting but for now I am gonna use a magnetic sewing led light setup.

Ah yes the ole Harber Freight Wood Working bench is great for reloading. Drawers could pull out further for my liking but has been my bench for many a year now. Keep my powder in MTM crate totes under the bottom shelf (limited space also) and bullets on the lower shelf.

My only real gripe is the drawers don’t pull out far enough

In hindsight I prob should move the press closer to the edge as well. Dunno why I put it there. It’s works fine but I get annoyed about the primer catch tube not hanging closer to the edge

Don’t poke your eyes out with the coffee cup!

For me, I have to avoid clutter on the bench to produce quality and consistent reloads and avoid mistakes.

I solved this problem some 40+ years ago by building a shelving unit (48" high x 40" wide x 12" deep) that sit to the rear the tabletop of my bench. In addition, I installed a shelf underneath the bench to house powder.

The only equipment I have mounted on the bench is the press and powder measure. My balance is placed on one of the shelves at eye level. When I need to trim, which is not frequent since I began using a Sinclair Chamber Length Gauge, I temporarily mount the trimmer (Wilson) on the bench with a "C" clamp. After trimming, I return the trimmer to one of the shelves.

This system is efficient, compact, avoids clutter, organized, and has every piece of equipment and component in an assigned place.
