Bench Height

I believe most are set with the top around 34".
If it is just for your I would advise you to set up a mock up with your equipment to find what is best for you.

34" is a good height. It is important to understand too things about bench height. To achieve the best fit for a diverse group of shooters an adjustable stool is the best method, and it is easier for a short shooter to use a bench that is a little tall for him, than for a tall shooter to use one that is too short. Also, the suggesting to build a mock-up is a good one.

A gentile reminder - if you are building benches that are at a range open to the public - per the 1990 Americans with Disabilities Act - your are required to provide access for the handicapped including wheelchair accessible benches.

Pertinent to the original height question - required is 30 inch minimum clearance under the bench top and a top surface height not to exceed 34 inches - there are many other dimensional requirements and requirements for the percentage of such benches (1 minimum at each distance and an additional 1 in 20 for over 20 benches).

you can all so take 1 1/2 with 1 3/4 square tubbing and then drill out every inch for the fisrt 10 inchs so that you can adjust the legs to fit you or help out with uneven ground.the two sizes will slip into one another.but hey this is just an opinion.
