Belzona for bedding

I have never used it for bedding. I have and do use it often for other things, specifically repairing lower liner bores in large diesel engines when electrolysis eats them up, valve seat bores in triplex well service pumps for temp repairs when they get fluid cut, and a few other misc things. It is very good and very expensive. Whether it will work for bedding will depend on the shrinkage, that is unknown to me.

My experience with bedding compound is to  not use anything that contains metallics. What we also need in bedding compound is minimal shrinkage.
Al, could you please explain this comment?
How can metallic additives cause shrinkage?
I always felt that the opposite was true, but I have no source to cite for that.

Used Belzona in mid 90's on some Carrier chiller condenser ends that had around 2000 GPM flowing thru them. They were beginning to have erosion/corrosion problems. Company came in and sand blasted and prepped the surfaces (like the children are making fun of but critical to the success) and applied. 10 years later those surfaces looked like the day it was applied. Spectacular for that application. That coating was more ceramic based. I'd hate to try bedding with it. You miss a spot with release agent, you'll be grinding the stock off.

I used Belzona way back in the 1980''s when bedding hunting rifles, mainly M98's in Bell & Carlson stocks. Never had any problems.

My preference now is Brownell's Steel bed for composite stocks and Acraglas gel for wood stocks. Acraglas gel is dyeable to match wood color.

This one is a current project, Ruger tang safety in a Bell & Carlson stock. Stainless steel pillars, and Steel Bed for bedding. 338 Win Mag for elk hunting in the Snake River country, western slopes in Oregon. Horse back country! Rifle is specifically made for life in a scabbard on horse back.

Belzona makes a multitude of different compounds.

in the Marine Industry, the various Belzonia products are used much in the same manner. It’s been around a long time. Theirnickname around most shipyards is “the mud men”.
To hear their hype, it will cure cancer, bring world peace, and cause your grown kids to finally get a job and move out.

I've bedded 2 rifles with the Loctite equivalent to belzona putty,it works great. There are several brands of ceramic putty that are WAY more economical to use in my line of work that are just as good . Loctite,Chesterton Arc,Devcon,Hudco...etc.... We use these products in industrial pumps refurbishing and for wear resistance.

I use this LocTite product, but only because I can get it for nothing at shipyards. We use it to bond in non metallic rudder bushings and strut bearings.
It is great for bedding.
It also is a great adhesive, but I have never used it to glue an action in because I have no idea what it would take to get it out. The stuff is pretty tough.

What you see here is around $250. But you can bed a lot of rifles with this amount. This is a Shehane Baby Tracker Stock I bedded for a Bar Neuvo.

I've used that adhesive before on valve seats.......you need a heck of a lot of heat to remove seats that are glued in with it...quite a bit more than an iron would give you
