Al, could you please explain this comment? My experience with bedding compound is to not use anything that contains metallics. What we also need in bedding compound is minimal shrinkage.
Didn't mean to imply that metallics cause shrinkage. I probably could have worded that a bit cleaner.Al, could you please explain this comment?
How can metallic additives cause shrinkage?
I always felt that the opposite was true, but I have no source to cite for that.
in the Marine Industry, the various Belzonia products are used much in the same manner. It’s been around a long time. Theirnickname around most shipyards is “the mud men”.I have never used it for bedding. I have and do use it often for other things, specifically repairing lower liner bores in large diesel engines when electrolysis eats them up, valve seat bores in triplex well service pumps for temp repairs when they get fluid cut, and a few other misc things. It is very good and very expensive. Whether it will work for bedding will depend on the shrinkage, that is unknown to me.
What Loctite product did you use?I've bedded 2 rifles with the Loctite equivalent to belzona putty,it works great. There are several brands of ceramic putty that are WAY more economical to use in my line of work that are just as good . Loctite,Chesterton Arc,Devcon,Hudco...etc.... We use these products in industrial pumps refurbishing and for wear resistance.
I used this to bed 2 rifles, enough in there for 4 or 5 more..we got it as a sample at work that never got usedWhat Loctite product did you use?
Pitted/firecracked barrel? …kidding!Dang guys. I need something to repair with Belzona!
I use this LocTite product, but only because I can get it for nothing at shipyards. We use it to bond in non metallic rudder bushings and strut bearings. What Loctite product did you use?

I've used that adhesive before on valve seats.......you need a heck of a lot of heat to remove seats that are glued in with it...quite a bit more than an iron would give youI use this LocTite product, but only because I can get it for nothing at shipyards. We use it to bond in non metallic rudder bushings and strut bearings.
It is great for bedding.
It also is a great adhesive, but I have never used it to glue an action in because I have no idea what it would take to get it out. The stuff is pretty tough.
What you see here is around $250. But you can bed a lot of rifles with this amount.
