Bell and Carlson stock for the 700 platform

Just bought a Bell and Carlson varminter stock, will aluminum beding block, to replace the one that came on the 700SPS Varmint. After I removed some paint over-spray where the action tang rests, it dropped in like a glove...a latex glove. Before I tightened the screws, I checked for slop forward and back, side to side, and rotationally. To my subjective observation, it moved not a milimeter. I can't wait to get it scoped up and put some lead downrange.

What has everyone's experience been with these Bell and Carlson aluminum bedding block stocks?

They're fine but they're even better when lightly skim bedded, all my B&C and HS stocks get skim bedded in tang area, on top of block and in front of recoil lug.

Yes, on the Bell & Carlson stocks. Bought my first, the Medalist "tactical", there's that word again), for my Savage mdl 10FP. Got it from "Shooters Discount, in Mississippi, UPS rang the doorbell 2 weeks after it was ordered, $213 delivered. Dropped right-in, near perfect fit, just replaced the factory barrel with a Hart, same contour, and had it skim bedded at that time. Was so impressed with it, ordered the same stock for one of my Remington 700s'. Ditto to all of the above. Rides the bags nicely, like the near vertical "fat" pistol grip, and yes, groups have become slightly smaller. A very good experience all around.;)

My understanding: Filling-in minor voids and low spots that may be there due to small differences between receivers of the same type & manufacturer--- not removing any of the original stock material before applying the "skim bedding". Whatever you want to call it: it works for me.;)

Well after carrying an H.S Precision stocked M-24 for our government for 5 years I can say without question, that the Bell&Carlson stock is as good as any H.S Precision<assuming non-adjustable> stock you can buy. And for alot less money to boot.

Skim bedding is using a very light skim of glass bedding in the tang and recoil lug area of the stock to fill any void of loose or uneven spot between the action and the stock.

I don't own a B&C but do have a H & S Precision on a custom Rem 700 25-06 and a Hogue over molded full bedded stock on a custom Rem 700 264 Win Mag. The Hogue seems to be just as good a stock as the H&S Precision as far as fit and accuracy go but don't get it for a rifle that you want to ride a bag. The Hogue rubber finish is meant to hold on to with wet or sweaty hands so it does not slide, ride) a bag very well. The Hogue full bed stock is about $40.00 less than the B&C medalist full bed stock on average.

B&C's A-5 is TOP NOTCH for F-Class F/TR or as a Tactical, there's that word again!) platform. I've opened them up for 1.250 straight tubes with no problem.

Best price I could find: shootersdiscount.com

Have has several and liked them all.

I love my B&C stock on my SPS 700.
5 shot groups shrank about a 1/4 inch on average by just swapping out the factory tupper ware stock.

I just bought a Bell & Carlson Tactical/Varmint stock for my Rem. 700. It is a well made stock at a decent price. It has the adjustable chhekpiece, buttstock and sling swivel rail. I would highly recommend this stock to anyone who wants a great stock that is a bit cheaper than some of the others.
